🧱 Game 1 – FSU 3, VT 1: Volini Locks In Joey Volini looked every bit like an ace in Game 1, throwing 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball with 5 strikeouts and just 1 run allowed. The junior rebounded from a tough outing last weekend to improve to 8–1 on the year.
🔒 Joe Charles shut the door in the final two frames, earning his first save of the season.
📈 Offensive Spark: • Max Williams: Leadoff double to set up the game’s first run • Gage Harrelson: Double + run scored • Alex Lodise: RBI single in the 5th • Myles Bailey: Key double to extend the lead
🧱 Game 2 – FSU 12, VT 1: Arnold’s Masterpiece + HR Barrage Jamie Arnold may have topped Volini’s gem with a statement of his own — 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 9 K in his best ACC start of the season. The junior lefty needed just 98 pitches and improved to 4–2 on the year.
💣 The bats came alive behind him — the Noles blasted 4 home runs and scored 8 runs in the final 3 innings to run away with it.
🔨 Long Ball Lineup: • Alex Lodise • Drew Faurot • Brody DeLamielleure • Cal Fisher
👀 Multi-Hit Club: Lodise, Faurot, Fisher, Max Williams, Hunter Carns, and Chase Williams each finished with two hits as the offense exploded for 13 total.
🧤 John Abraham added a dominant closing effort — 2 perfect innings, 4 strikeouts.
📍 Series Finale: Sunday, 12 PM ET in Blacksburg

No. 9 Florida State Softball (39–6, 13–1 ACC) locked up the series against Cal on Saturday with a commanding 11–3 victory — a game that also marked Lonni Alameda’s 300th ACC win as head coach. That comes just a day after she earned her 800th overall at the helm. 👑
📊 Game Highlights: • 1st Inning: Katie Dack got the Noles on the board with an RBI single to score Isa Torres
• 2nd Inning: Jahni Kerr added another RBI, and Michaela Edenfield brought in two on a misplayed ball in right field

• 5th Inning: Amaya Ross joined the party with a solo blast to center
• 6th Inning: Jaysoni Beachum broke it wide open with a three-run bomb — her 11th of the year, tying the team lead
• 7th Inning: Shelby McKenzie added the finishing touch with a pinch-hit RBI single
🌀 In the Circle: • Julia Apsel (W, 12–0): 4.0 IP | 1 H | 2 R (1 ER) | 2 K
• Jazzy Francik (SV, 6): 3.0 IP | 2 H | 1 R | 1 BB
📍 What’s Next:
Game 3 of the series is set for Sunday at 3 PM ET on ACCNX.
🎾 FSU Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 3 Duke Despite Top-15 Doubles Upset
The Seminoles came out swinging in Durham — but No. 3 Duke proved too strong in singles. 💪
No. 64 Florida State Women’s Tennis (13–8, 4–7 ACC) fell 4–0 to the undefeated Blue Devils on Saturday, but not without making some noise early.
🔥 Doubles Highlight: • No. 76 Eva Shaw & Maria Juliana Parra Romero dominated No. 15 Irina Balus / Ellie Coleman, 6–2
• It was the highest-ranked win of the season for the FSU pair, who are now 13–3 overall and 6–1 in ACC play
⚔️ Singles Snapshot: • Shaw and Parra Romero each won their first sets and were leading late when the match was called
• FSU won first sets on Courts 1 and 5, and pushed two other matches to tiebreakers before Duke ultimately clinched
📊 Final Score:
No. 3 Duke 4, No. 64 Florida State 0
📝 Singles matches left unfinished on Courts 1, 3, and 5
📍 Next Up:
FSU wraps its regular season Sunday at Noon vs. No. 6 North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
🏐 FSU Beach Wraps Regular Season with Two Tight Losses in Cali
It was a weekend full of battles in the sand, but the breaks didn’t fall the Seminoles’ way. 🌊
No. 7 Florida State Beach Volleyball dropped its final two matchups at the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, falling to No. 3 Cal Poly and No. 12 Arizona State in a pair of tight, hard-fought duals.
📉 Match 1 – vs. No. 3 Cal Poly (L, 4–1): • ⭐ Maddie Trusty & Gella Andrew earned a straight-sets win on court two: 21–19, 22–20
• 🧱 Koenig/Durish forced a third set on court one after a 21–10 loss, but Cal Poly clinched in the decider
• 💥 Three of five courts were decided by three points or fewer
📉 Match 2 – vs. No. 12 Arizona State (L, 3–2): • 🧨 Three of five courts went the distance
• 🔁 Trusty/Andrew outlasted ASU in three: 20–22, 21–19, 16–14 — finishing the weekend 2–0
• ⚡ Bergner/Sassack rallied for a gritty court four win: 20–22, 21–18, 15–12
• 🔒 ASU secured the dual with a clincher on court one
📍 Next Stop: FSU now turns its focus to the postseason: 🗓️ CCSA Tournament | April 25–26 in Baton Rouge, LA
🚪 QB Trever Jackson Enters Transfer Portal After Redshirt Season
Florida State’s quarterback room just got a little lighter. Redshirt freshman Trever Jackson has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. The Winter Garden native will depart Tallahassee with four years of eligibility remaining. 🌀
📋 Quick Profile: • 🏫 Former 3⭐️ QB from Jones High School (FL)
• ✍️ Flipped from Ole Miss to FSU during recruitment
• 💬 Chose FSU in part due to Jordan Travis comparisons and “real” coaching style
• 👕 Redshirted in 2024, served primarily as scout team QB
• 📊 Appeared in one game (Charleston Southern), completed his only pass for 2 yards
⚖️ Why It Matters: Jackson’s departure thins out a competitive QB room led by Tommy Castellanos, Brock Glenn, and true freshman Kevin Sperry. Though Jackson didn’t see significant action, he was considered a developmental prospect with dual-threat potential.
📍 What’s Next: Expect the Seminoles to stay aggressive in QB development — but the portal may become a consideration depending on how spring wraps up.
🛬 FSU to Host America East ROY Martin Somerville for Transfer Visit
Florida State men’s basketball continues to work the portal — and their next visitor is one of the most decorated freshmen in the America East. 🏀
UMass Lowell guard Martin Somerville will visit Tallahassee on April 15–16, per 247Sports’ Travis Branham. The trip comes immediately after a stop at BYU.
📊 Somerville’s Freshman Campaign: • 🏆 America East Rookie of the Year
• 🧱 11x Rookie of the Week (new conference record)
• 📈 32 GP | 12 starts | 31.5 MPG
• 13.6 PPG | 3.7 AST | 2.9 REB | 1.5 STL
• 💣 40.5% from three | 2.4-to-1 AST/TO ratio
📍 Scouting Snapshot: A 6’3” guard out of Bowie, Md. (via Southern California Academy), Somerville is a savvy, efficient scorer who brings floor spacing, poise, and high basketball IQ. He’s currently ranked No. 315 in the national transfer rankings — but could be a sneaky-high upside get.
🌀 Portal Rundown: • ✅ Alex Steen (Florida Southern) — visited, signed
• ❌ Max Green (Holy Cross) — committed to Northwestern
• 🔜 Damarco Minor (Oregon State) — visiting Monday
• 🔜 Martin Somerville (UMass Lowell) — visiting Tuesday/Wednesday
