Former 5⭐ WR Hykeem Williams officially entered the transfer portal — but from a roster standpoint, it may not shift the WR outlook as much as some feared.
📉 What It Means for FSU:
• Williams struggled to stay healthy across two seasons
• His spring performance suggested he wasn't in line for a breakout
• Transfers Duce Robinson and Squirrel White — plus standout freshman Jayvan Boggs — are the clear leaders in the 2025 WR room
🌟 Names to Know Going Forward:
• Duce Robinson (Transfer)
• Squirrel White (Transfer)
• Jayvan Boggs (Freshman standout)
• Elijah Moore, Jalen Brown, Lawayne McCoy (depth options)
🛒 Portal Possibilities?
• WR isn't a need — it’s a want if the right fit appears
• If Robinson and White stay healthy, FSU could be very selective (or stand pat)
🎙️ Final Thought:
Florida State has options — and a rising star in Boggs. The key now is health, development, and smart depth management heading into summer.
🚪 Portal Watch: FSU Scouting G5 + FCS Defensive Targets to Bolster 2025 Roster
Florida State is casting a wide net as it looks to add the final pieces to Tony White’s new-look defense — including scouring the Group of Five (G5) and FCS ranks for hidden gems. 🔎
🧩 Why It Matters:
• Past success stories: Jared Verse (FCS), Braden Fiske (G5)
• Already added two G5 defenders this offseason (Deante McCray, Deamontae Diggs)
• Need depth + upside fits to round out the 2025 unit
🔥 Names to Watch:
• Elo Modozie (Army, DL) — Top target, but Georgia involved
• Stephen Daily (Kent State, DL) — Big upside
• Phillip Lee (Troy, EDGE) — Strong FSU ties, rising interest
📈 Intriguing G5/FCS Portal Options:
• CB Ricky Fletcher (South Alabama): 6'3" physical corner, high-risk/high-reward upside (88 grade)
• CB/S Beni Mwamba (Chattanooga): Versatile young DB with ball skills (86 grade)
• DB Jyron Gilmore (Georgia State): Undersized nickelback with energy and production (84 grade)
• NT Myles Parker (Tennessee Tech): 5'11", 344-lb anchor with elite strength and lateral quickness (86 grade)
• S Que Billingsley (Kent State): Athletic, instinctive run-stopper; coverage skills developing (85 grade)
• DL Gavin Ransaw (Coastal Carolina): Athletic mover with versatility across the line (87 grade)
🎯 What FSU Is Looking For:
• Depth at NT, CB, S, and flexible DL spots
• Scheme fits for White’s hybrid 3-3-5 defense
• Developmental players who can push for two-deep roles in 2025
And that’s a wrap!
Stay safe, stay proud, and stay Nole Strong. ❤️💛
