The 16th-ranked Florida State softball team delivered a stunning performance in Gainesville, run-ruling the 12th-ranked Florida Gators 12-2 in just five innings.
This victory at the packed Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium marks FSU's sixth consecutive win over their in-state rivals, including their third straight win in Gainesville.
โพ Dramatic Turnaround: Entering the fifth inning with just one hit and three baserunners for the night, the Seminoles ignited a historic rally.
It all started with Hallie Wacaser's single, followed by Katie Dack's three-RBI laser into right field. Amaya Ross then tied the game after her line drive was mishandled, setting the stage for an explosive inning.
๐ฅ Fifth Inning Onslaught: The game shifted dramatically when Kalei Harding's hit gave FSU the lead, followed by Isa Torres's massive three-run homer, blowing the game wide open.
The Noles didn't stop there, adding more runs through strategic plays and capitalized on a pivotal homer by Jaysoni Beachum to record the most runs in a single inning for FSU this season.
๐ Mimi Gooden's Stellar Pitching: Freshman Mimi Gooden shone in her third career start, pitching three innings and limiting one of the country's top offenses to just one extra-base hit in hostile territory.
๐ Looking Ahead: The Seminoles aim to continue their impressive form as they host North Carolina for Senior Weekend.
The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. this Friday, promising another exciting series for FSU softball fans.

The 2024-25 season for Florida State Men's Basketball is gearing up to be one of considerable change and strategic reinforcement. Hereโs a deeper dive into the shifts and new additions shaping the future of Seminoles basketball.
๐ NBA Bound: Jamir Watkins Declares for the Draft
Jamir Watkins, the standout forward and FSUโs top performer last season, has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft.
Leading the team with an average of 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, Watkins' move to the professional level marks a significant transition for the team.
His departure underscores the upcoming challenge in roster reconstruction, as FSU anticipates the return of only two scholarship players from last season.
FSU is experiencing a major roster shift, losing 13 players due to eligibility expiration, transfers, and the NBA Draft, including notable players like Darin Green Jr. and Jalen Warley.
This turnover highlights the dynamic nature of collegiate basketball and sets the stage for a crucial rebuilding phase under Coach Leonard Hamilton.
๐ Reinforcements Arrive: Top Recruits and Transfers
In response to these departures, FSU has been active in the recruitment arena.
Notably, the Seminoles have secured Malique Ewin, the nation's top JUCO prospect, a 6โ10" center expected to make immediate impacts both offensively and defensively.
The team has also welcomed high school recruits such as four-star guard Daquan Davis and forwards AJ Swinton and Christian Nitu, who are set to bring new energy and versatility.
๐ FSU Football's Transfer Portal Moves: Targeting Top Defensive Talent ๐

Florida State's football program is actively seeking to enhance its defensive lineup through strategic recruitments from the NCAA Transfer Portal, with a particular focus on bolstering the defensive tackle position.
๐ Strategic In-Home Visits
FSU's coaching staff, including Defensive Tackles Coach Odell Haggins and Defensive Coordinator Adam Fuller, conducted an in-home visit with Jared Harrison-Hunte, a notable transfer from the University of Miami.
During the visit, discussions focused on academic goals, the upcoming season's ambitions, and the hard work required within FSU's program.
Harrison-Hunte, who brings considerable experience from Miami with 26 tackles, three TFLs, two sacks, and a blocked kick in the last season, is a key target for the Seminoles.
๐ Expanding Recruitment Efforts
In addition to Harrison-Hunte, FSU has also reached out to Michigan State defensive tackle prospects Simeon Barrow and Derrick Harmon, marking the first in-person contact with these players.
Barrow, who has already visited LSU, and Harmon, newly entered into the portal, are both seen as crucial potential additions as FSU aims to strengthen its defensive line.
๐ Building a Contender
The pursuit of these defensive talents is part of FSU's broader strategy to assemble a team capable of contending for a spot in the College Football Playoff's 12-team invitational.
With the departure of key players like Braden Fiske and Fabien Lovett, securing top defensive line talent is crucial for maintaining a robust defense that can handle the rigors of a competitive season.
๐ Next Steps
Harrison-Hunte plans to make a decision in the coming weeks, with FSU and Missouri poised for additional official visits.
The recruitment of Barrow and Harmon continues as FSU looks to finalize their roster with high-impact players who can contribute immediately.
And thatโs a wrap!
We hope you enjoyed the latest updates from FSU's fields, courts, and tracks.
Keep cheering on the Seminoles as they continue to showcase their skills and spirit across various sports.
Thanks for reading, and until next time, Go Noles! ๐ข
