Next weekend’s Florida State–Alabama matchup isn’t just a massive game on the field — it’s also a recruiting spectacle. For the first time since 2021, Doak Campbell will host a top-tier season opener, giving FSU a chance to roll out the garnet carpet for high-profile prospects.
🔥 Big Numbers
Roughly 100 recruits expected, with 300 total guests including families.
First look: Recruits will tour the nearly finished football-only facility (hard hats required).
Supported by a massive recruiting staff — including 60 interns across operations and personnel.
💨 Behind the Scenes
GM of Personnel Darrick Yray credits Director of Recruiting Ops Molly Jacoby and staff for planning “all-inclusive” visits.
Goal is to create an exclusive experience, from gameday traditions to top-tier hospitality.
Yray: “We want to roll out the garnet carpet for every single one of these folks … I want to be perfect in everything that we do.”
🔥 The Doak Factor
Recruits will experience FSU’s most iconic moments: Osceola planting the spear, the War Chant, and a packed stadium.
Yray: “You get someone to put that arm back and forth while the War Chant is playing … I’ll put that up against anyone.”
📌 Why It Matters
The Alabama opener is FSU’s recruiting Super Bowl — combining primetime exposure, a blue-blood opponent, and the debut of new facilities. A strong impression here could ripple through the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes.

Florida State’s true freshmen may generate headlines, but the 2024 recruiting class — now sophomores — could quietly determine how far the Seminoles bounce back in 2025. After a rocky team season in 2024, these second-years will be asked to take a leap forward.
🔥 Offensive Playmakers
RB Kam Davis: Logged 173 yards as a freshman but faces a crowded depth chart behind Ousmane Kromah, Gavin Sawchuk, and Roydell Williams.
WR Lawayne McCoy: Talented but injury-prone; could be a difference-maker if he finally stays healthy.
WR Elijah Moore: In the two-deep, bringing size and physicality alongside Duce Robinson.
WR Micahi Danzy: Converted RB with elite speed; coaches are scheming package plays to unlock mismatches.
TE Landen Thomas: Already productive as a freshman (14 catches, 173 yards, TD). A top option if he can stay healthy.
TE Amaree Williams: Flashed as a hybrid TE/DE; now back to tight end, where he could become a red-zone weapon.
💨 O-Line Development
Jonathan Daniels: Likely FSU’s 4th tackle, valuable depth behind Pettus, Hansen, and Simmons.
Manasse Itete: Reserve role in 2025, still developing.
Tye Hylton & Jayden Todd: Depth pieces, expected to contribute on scout team.
🛡️ Defensive Outlook
CB Charles Lester & CB Cai Bates: Both vying for two-deep spots after limited freshman action; big leap expected.
CB Jamari Howard: Returning from ACL injury, but health remains a question.
DL Jamorie Flagg & LB Jayden Parrish: Not expected to crack the two-deep; scout team contributors in 2025.
🏹 Special Teams Spotlight
K Jake Weinberg: Tasked with replacing Ryan Fitzgerald. Camp reports have been positive — if consistent, he could stabilize a critical spot right away.
📌 Why It Matters
Freshmen grab headlines, but sophomore jumps are often the backbone of a turnaround. If Thomas stays healthy, Moore emerges, and Lester/Bates solidify the secondary, FSU’s 2024 class could reshape the outlook for 2025.
And that’s a wrap!
From the classroom to the gridiron, Seminoles are leaving their mark everywhere — 284 on the ACC Honor Roll, former stars grinding for NFL roster spots, and recruits like Nigel Newkirk eyeing Tallahassee as their next home.
Next weekend’s FSU–Alabama clash will be more than just a game — it’s a program-defining showcase for recruits, fans, and the future of Seminole football.
