Florida State is gearing up for an active transfer season, with a flurry of high-profile players expected to visit the campus in early January as the NCAA lifts the dead period for mid-year transfers.
These potential additions could significantly bolster the Seminoles' roster across various positions. Here's a rundown of some of the top candidates eyeing Florida State:
Jo’Quavius Marks (Running Back, Mississippi State): Despite his recent commitment to USC, Marks is expected to visit FSU.
A former four-star recruit, Marks has showcased his talent over four years with the Bulldogs, accumulating five touchdowns and 1,225 yards on 214 carries.
Nic Scourton (Edge Rusher, Purdue): Scourton, a significant force in the Big Ten with 10 sacks this season, has FSU high on his visit list.
As the second-best edge rusher available according to On3 Industry Ranking, landing Scourton would continue FSU's trend of strengthening their defensive line, especially following the departure of Jared Verse.
Tackett Curtis (Linebacker, USC): After an impressive season with the Trojans, Curtis is considering FSU among his early January visits.
His production as a freshman and his status as a top-150 player nationally out of high school make him an enticing prospect for the Seminoles.
Peny Boone (Running Back, Toledo): Following a standout year leading to MAC offensive player of the year honors, Boone is considering FSU alongside Louisville and Kentucky.
His robust performance on the ground and experience make him an attractive addition to the backfield.
Jaylin Lucas (Running Back, Indiana): With familial ties to FSU and previous connections to Coach Norvell's staff, Lucas is a strong candidate for a transfer.
Known for his kick return prowess, Lucas could offer the Seminoles versatility and depth.
Evan Stewart (Wide Receiver, Texas A&M): As one of the most talented prospects in the portal, Stewart's potential visit could significantly elevate FSU's receiving corps.
His impressive freshman year accolades and continued performance make him a top target.
As January approaches, the Seminoles are poised to make impactful additions through the portal, addressing key areas and potentially setting the stage for a stronger season ahead.
With each of these players considering FSU, the coming weeks are critical for shaping the team's future roster.

Why Florida State Could Win
Unwavering Spirit: Despite the controversy surrounding their College Football Playoff exclusion, Florida State's undefeated season is indicative of a resilient and powerful team. They've overcome adversities and sport a highly efficient offense that's led the ACC in fewest turnovers and boasts a solid passing efficiency.
Depth and Talent: While the Seminoles might be missing several starters, they've demonstrated depth across the roster. Their young players, especially those stepping up for opted-out stars, have a chance to shine and make significant impacts.
Defensive Strength: Despite losses, FSU's defense has been formidable throughout the season, and if they can force turnovers and control the game tempo, they have a shot at making the game competitive.
Why Georgia Could Win
Depth of Talent: Georgia's depth has been a key component of its success. Even with some starters missing, the Bulldogs have a wealth of talent ready to step up. Their defensive strategy of forcing the opponent to one-dimensional play could significantly disrupt FSU's offensive plans.
Experienced Leadership: With quarterback Carson Beck at the helm and a solid offensive lineup, Georgia's offense is robust. They have a strong rushing and passing game, which can exploit any weaknesses in FSU's defense.
Motivation and Momentum: After their SEC Championship loss, Georgia has a point to prove. Motivated to end the season on a high note, the Bulldogs are likely to enter the game with high energy and determination to showcase their dominant style.
Key Points from Predictions and Analyses:

Opt-Outs and Missing Players: FSU's roster is notably depleted, with significant starters opting out or injured. Georgia, while missing some key players, is less affected and retains much of its core strength.
Georgia's Defense vs. FSU's Offense: A key battle will be Georgia's aggressive defense against FSU's offense. If Georgia can stifle FSU's ground game and pressure the third-string quarterback, it could tilt the game in their favor.
Florida State's Fighting Spirit: Despite being underdogs and fielding a skeletal squad, Florida State's resilience and spirit shouldn't be underestimated. Their performance this season has shown they can rise to the challenge against tough opponents.
The Emotional and Psychological Factors: The controversy around FSU's playoff exclusion and Georgia's near miss in the SEC Championship adds an emotional layer to the game. How each team manages these feelings could impact their performance on the field.
Final Thoughts:
While Georgia is favored to win, especially given their less impacted roster and the depth of talent, the game isn't a foregone conclusion. Florida State has shown throughout the season that they can perform under pressure and deliver surprising results.
The game will likely be a showcase of Georgia's consistent strength against Florida State's resilient spirit. In terms of betting, while Georgia might win, covering a large spread might be more challenging, suggesting a closer game than the odds indicate.
The total points are expected to be on the higher end, reflecting both teams' offensive capabilities.
In conclusion, while Georgia is favored and might likely win the game, the spirit and fight of the Florida State team, coupled with the unpredictable nature of college football, especially in bowl games, make this a must-watch matchup with potential for unexpected turns.
