🏈 FSU Extends Scholarship Offer to Offensive Tackle Chastan Brown 🏈

Florida State has made a splash in the 2025 recruiting class by offering a scholarship to Chastan Brown, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound offensive tackle and recent UCF decommitment. The offer came after a phone call from FSU’s new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, who previously recruited Brown during his time at UCF, followed by an official offer from head coach Mike Norvell.

🌟 Brown’s Surprising Offer from FSU 🌟
Brown was caught off guard by the scholarship offer, despite receiving a hint from Malzahn earlier in the week.

“I was pretty shocked because I wasn’t really expecting FSU to come across for real,” Brown said.

The Seminoles’ entry into his recruitment has certainly raised the stakes, as he now weighs his options between signing during the Early Signing Period or waiting for National Signing Day in February.

💥 A Physically Impressive Prospect 💥
Ranked as the nation’s No. 226 overall prospect and No. 21 offensive tackle by 247Sports, Brown is a physically gifted player with a towering frame and elite wingspan.

He is still developing and will need to gain more weight in a college program, but his basketball background has provided him with impressive reactive quickness and hand usage.

While Brown will need time to adjust, his potential as a left tackle makes him a promising project for FSU’s future.

🏈 FSU Adds JUCO Defensive Tackle Tyeland Coleman to 2025 Class 🏈

Florida State has secured a commitment from Tyeland Coleman, a three-star junior college defensive tackle from Northwest Mississippi Community College. The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder announced his commitment to the Seminoles after an official visit to Tallahassee.

🌟 Coleman Impressed by FSU and Tallahassee 🌟
Coleman, originally from Terry, Mississippi, was drawn to the city of Tallahassee, citing the peaceful environment as a key factor in his decision. "It is a good city to live in. Not a lot of crazy stuff going on all the time," Coleman said. "That is one of my top things, safety and just trying to stay out of harm's way as much as I possibly can."

💥 Strong Defensive Line Commitment 💥
In the 2024 season, Coleman posted 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Ranked as the No. 9 overall junior college prospect and the No. 6 defensive lineman by 247Sports, he becomes the fourth defensive lineman in FSU’s 2025 class, joining Darryll Desir, Mandrell Desir, and Kevin Wynn.

🌟 Coleman’s Impact on the Tribe25 Class 🌟
With Coleman’s commitment, FSU’s Tribe25 class has jumped to No. 38 in the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings, up from No. 45. Coleman will have three years to play two seasons in Tallahassee.

🏈 Teriq Mallory Flips to FSU, Trusts Mike Norvell’s Vision 🏈

Teriq Mallory, a three-star wide receiver from Cheshire Academy (Conn.), flipped his commitment from West Virginia to Florida State just before National Signing Day, citing his faith in head coach Mike Norvell as the primary reason for his decision.

🌟 Belief in Norvell's Expertise 🌟
Despite concerns over the lack of a receivers coach at FSU following Ron Dugans’ departure, Mallory is confident in Norvell’s ability to develop him as a wide receiver. "I believe in coach Norvell because he played receiver at a high level," Mallory said. "He coached receiver at a high level. He is very hands-on with the wide receivers, so I believe I can get a lot of knowledge from him."

💥 Big-Body Receiver with Early Potential 💥
Norvell, who has extensive experience coaching receivers, spoke with Mallory about his potential for early playing time. "They need guys with my size," Mallory shared, referring to his big-bodied frame as an asset for the Seminoles. Mallory, who recorded 49 catches for 691 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, is set to arrive on FSU’s campus on January 6.

🌟 Connection with Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn 🌟
Mallory has already connected with new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and is eager to work hard and seize the opportunities that await him at FSU.

🏈 Signing Day Eve: Florida State’s Final Push for the 2025 Class 🏈

The early signing period for the Class of 2025 kicks off today, and Florida State is making a strong push to finish strong. With the Seminoles currently holding the No. 53 recruiting class, they are working to move up the rankings by securing key flips and commitments in the final hours leading up to National Signing Day. Below is a live blog of the latest updates and intel surrounding FSU’s recruiting efforts as we count down to Signing Day.

🔑 Latest Updates and Latest Intel 🔑

  • Tae’shaun Gelsey, the four-star wide receiver currently committed to Florida, remains a priority target for FSU. However, Gelsey is still waiting to hear about who FSU’s wide receivers coach will be after Ron Dugans’ departure. Gelsey, who prefers playing receiver over a hybrid tight end role, loves FSU’s pitch but without a position coach in place, the likelihood of a flip seems slim for now.

  • Five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas intends to sign tomorrow at 5:00 PM but is still waiting to hear who FSU will hire as its offensive line coach. This uncertainty puts FSU’s chances at risk, as Thomas remains undecided due to the lack of clarity around the coaching staff.

  • Four-star linebacker TJ Alford is deciding between Ohio State and Florida State. Alford, who is having final conversations with FSU’s new defensive coordinator Tony White, is expected to sign with Ohio State but FSU is still making a strong final push.

  • FSU is now the frontrunner for Sean Poret, a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle committed to USF. Poret is expected to announce his decision tomorrow at 9:00 AM. FSU’s push for Poret is significant, especially with uncertainty surrounding the hiring of a new offensive line coach.

  • Tyeland Coleman, a JUCO defensive line prospect, has spoken with Tony White and is leaning towards making a decision soon. Coleman’s delay in announcing was due to a positive conversation with White, and FSU remains in a strong position.

  • 1:40 PM Update - Solomon Thomas & LSU Buzz
It seems like LSU is generating buzz as a potential landing spot for Solomon Thomas after his official visit there. FSU’s uncertainty regarding its offensive line coach is putting Thomas' commitment at risk.

  • 1:05 PM Update - Teddy Hoffmann Crystal Ball Pick
After Florida State offered Teddy Hoffmann, a wide receiver from South Florida, a 247Sports Crystal Ball has been logged in favor of FSU. Hoffmann is set to sign on Friday, and it looks like FSU could make a big push to secure his services.

  • LaJesse Harrold (4-star Edge)
Harrold, a highly sought-after edge rusher, has been trending towards FSU. However, his decision could be delayed until February, so FSU’s chances will depend on whether he chooses to sign early.
