🥎🔥 No. 10 Noles Run-Rule FAMU in Five 🔥🥎

Florida State wasted no time Wednesday night, rolling past Florida A&M 14–0 in five innings at JoAnne Graf Field.

💣 Big Inning Energy
The Noles scored in three of four innings, including a six-run two-out rally in the fourth to slam the door. Jaysoni Beachum doubled home the first run and later added another RBI knock, while Ashtyn Danley delivered a two-run triple and tied her career high with three RBI.

Kennedy Harp added her first hit of the season, a two-run double, as FSU piled up a season-high 14 runs and eight walks.

🧊 Lights-Out in the Circle
Danley set the tone with three innings of one-hit ball and six strikeouts. Marlee Gaskell and Makenna Reid each tossed a clean inning, combining for five more punchouts to finish the shutout.

📊 Notable Streaks

  • 43 straight regular-season wins vs. unranked non-conference teams

  • 32 straight wins over FAMU

  • 121–7 all-time vs. the Rattlers

  • Sturgis now 8-for-13 over her last 13 at-bats

Why It Matters:
The offense is heating up, the depth in the circle is steady, and The Plex continues to feel like a problem for visitors.

Up next: FGCU doubleheader Thursday at 3 p.m. (ACCNX).

💥 Bailey Powers Noles Past UNF in 14–9 Slugfest 💥

No. 21 Florida State snapped its two-game skid with a wild 14–9 win over North Florida in a four-hour midweek marathon at Howser.

🚀 Bailey’s Big Night
Myles Bailey reached base in all six plate appearances and launched two opposite-field home runs, giving him three homers in the last two games and four on the season. He drove in four runs and continues to look like the centerpiece of the lineup.

Noah Sheffield added four RBI, while freshman Kelvyn Paulino Jr. chipped in three in his first career start. FSU scored 14 runs on 11 hits, drawing nine walks and taking six hit-by-pitches.

🧱 Pitching Notes
FSU used nine arms in a full-staff effort. John Abraham delivered two clutch scoreless innings and has now thrown 6.1 straight shutout frames. Payton Manca bounced back in a major way, striking out six over 2.1 scoreless innings to stabilize the late innings.

📊 The Swing Inning
A six-run second inning flipped the script early, highlighted by Sheffield’s two-run single and Paulino’s two-out RBI knock.

Why It Matters:
After offensive inconsistency in Arlington, the bats showed life. The power is real. The depth is real. The bullpen remains… a work in progress.

Up next: The Citadel visits Howser this weekend (Fri–Sun, ACCNX).

🏃‍♀️🏆 Noles Open ACC Indoor Championships in Boston 🏆🏃‍♂️

No. 22 Florida State heads to Boston this week for the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 26–28) at The TRACK at New Balance.

📊 By the Numbers
FSU brings 48 athletes competing across 28 events, including 10 top-eight seeds and three school records set this season. The Seminoles have captured 18 ACC Indoor titles all-time (14 by the men), with the most recent championships coming in 2018 and 2019.

🔥 Names to Watch
Shenese Walker continues her electric season in the sprints. Her 7.09 in the 60m ranks first in the ACC, fourth nationally, and stands as the 10th-fastest time in the world this year.

Kaelyaah Liburd leads the ACC in the 400 after a record-setting 51.68 earlier this season.

Bieke Schipperen shattered the school and Dutch national record in the 5,000m (15:36.76) to close the regular season.

On the men’s side, Kyvon Tatham looks to defend his ACC title in the triple jump which is an event that FSU has historically dominated.

Why It Matters:
With multiple national-caliber performances already logged, FSU enters Boston positioned to compete for podium finishes and reassert itself in the ACC title conversation.

Coverage runs on ACCNX, with events beginning Thursday at 5 p.m.

🏀🚨 Noles Face Tall Task at No. 12 Duke 🚨🏀

Florida State (9–19, 4–12 ACC) hits the road Thursday night for a matchup with No. 12/14 Duke (20–7, 15–1 ACC) at Cameron Indoor Stadium (8 p.m., ACC Network).

📊 By the Numbers
Duke leads the all-time series 40–15, and this marks the fifth ranked opponent FSU has faced this regular season. Despite the record, the Seminoles have secured a spot in the 2026 Ally ACC Tournament (March 4–8, Duluth, Ga.).

🔥 Offensive Profile
Solè Williams leads the way at 15.5 PPG, followed by Jasmine Shavers at 12.4. FSU ranks third in the ACC in three-pointers made per game (8.2) and has knocked down 230 threes this season; fourth-most in program history. Shavers’ 52 triples place her among the top single-season shooters in school history.

💪 Last Time Out
Williams scored 17 in a 77–61 loss to Stanford, with Shavers adding 14. The Seminoles were sharp at the line (17-of-19, 89%) and forced 17 turnovers, including 10 steals.

Why It Matters:
With postseason play looming, every opportunity against elite competition becomes a measuring stick. A road test at Duke offers one more chance to sharpen before tournament week.

📅 Weekend Lineup

📊 Series Edge
FSU is 8–0 all-time vs. UNF and 20–0 against FAU, including recent 5–0 sweeps. The Noles are also 6–0 vs. UNC Wilmington.

If it’s TCU on Saturday, that’s a marquee matchup; the defending national champs and now a conference rival. FSU holds a 14–7 all-time edge and is 4–0 against the Horned Frogs in Tallahassee.

🎉 Theme Days
Friday honors Seminole Heritage, while Saturday features Kids Club festivities.

🏈🚑 Freshman EDGE Cam Brooks Suffers Torn Achilles 🚑🏈

Florida State’s Tour of Duty workouts took a tough turn as freshman edge rusher Cam Brooks suffered a torn Achilles during training. He’s expected to miss significant time.

Brooks, a 6’4”, 230-pound local standout from Thomas County Central, flipped to FSU on signing day after decommitting from Cal. At the time, he called Florida State his “dream school.”

💪 Early Impressions
Sources had praised Brooks’ winter workouts, with one comparison likening his early impact to last year’s Desir twins during offseason training.

🔄 Recovery Outlook
While the timeline is uncertain, there’s precedent; former FSU edge Jayson Jenkins returned from a similar injury in time for a season opener last year.

Why It Matters:
Brooks was viewed as a high-upside developmental piece off the edge. His absence thins early depth and slows momentum for one of the more intriguing young defenders in the class.

Spring practice begins in just a couple of weeks.

🏈📊 Darrell Jackson Draws ‘Unmined Gold’ Label at Combine 📊🏈

The 2026 NFL Draft Combine kicks off on-field drills this week in Indianapolis, and former Florida State DT Darrell Jackson is among the defensive linemen to watch.

📈 Pre-Combine Evaluation
NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein assigned Jackson a 6.00 grade — projecting as an above-average backup with developmental upside. He ranks 12th among defensive tackles in the class by grade.

Jackson’s Next Gen Stats score (72) ranks fourth among DTs at the Combine and falls in the “good” range.

🧱 Strengths
At 6’5”, 328 pounds, Jackson is described as an enormous interior presence with ideal length and frame. When technically sound, he can command two gaps, extend into blockers, and generate push with a bull rush.

⚠️ Areas to Improve
Zierlein notes inconsistencies tied to technique — playing too upright, narrow base, tight hips, and underdeveloped hand usage. He hasn’t fully “weaponized” his length yet as a pass rusher.

Still, evaluators see upside.

Why It Matters:
Jackson’s physical traits are clear. If NFL coaches believe they can clean up the fundamentals, he becomes a high-upside interior projection; the kind of “traits bet” teams love in the middle rounds.

And that’s a wrap!

Spring in Tallahassee always feels like momentum season.

Some teams are stacking runs. Some are sharpening for tournament time. Others are navigating setbacks while building for what’s next.

This is the stretch where identities get defined.

We’ll be tracking all of it with you.

See you tomorrow,
Chief
