🌟 FSU Women's Golf Dominates Collegiate Invitational, Claims Back-to-Back Titles 🏌️

The No. 12 Florida State women’s golf team successfully defended its title at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club, becoming the event’s first-ever two-time champion. Led by individual champion Mirabel Ting and runner-up Lottie Woad, the Seminoles secured a commanding six-stroke victory over TCU with a final team score of 10-under-par 854.

Championship Performance

Florida State entered the final round with momentum and closed strong, shooting six-under-par on the back nine to fend off a challenge from TCU and Virginia.

Head coach Amy Bond praised the team’s resilience:
“Playing 27 holes in a day is tough, but the girls dug deep and finished the final stretch strong.”

Ting Takes Individual Title

Junior All-American Mirabel Ting put on a masterclass in the final round, firing a career-low 66 (-6) to claim her fifth career individual title. Ting finished with a 12-under-par 204, recording three rounds in the 60s (69-69-66) and making a spectacular eagle on the par-5 ninth hole.

“Mirabel got it rolling today,” Bond said. “She made a lot of putts and hit a high number of quality shots.”

Ting, ranked No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, now has three individual wins this season.

Woad Finishes Runner-Up

World No. 1 Lottie Woad earned a strong second-place finish, shooting 69-72-70 (-6, 210). The junior secured her 21st career top-10 finish and 10th career runner-up result, proving once again why she is one of the nation’s elite golfers.

⚾ FSU Baseball Wraps Up Weekend Scrimmages as Opening Day Approaches

🔴⚾ Power Surge on Friday, Young Bats Shine on Sunday

Florida State baseball is just two weeks away from Opening Day, and the Seminoles continued their preseason preparation with a weekend of intra-squad scrimmages at Dick Howser Stadium.

While pitching is expected to be the team’s strength this year, FSU’s offense made a statement early, launching five home runs in Friday’s scrimmage. Among the highlights:
🔥 Max Williams went deep twice, including an opposite-field shot off a 95 mph fastball.
💣 Cal Fisher crushed a mammoth home run over the left-center scoreboard.
💥 Jaxson West capped the power display with a grand slam in the seventh inning.

Sunday’s scrimmage saw younger players step up, with freshmen Hunter Carns and Myles Bailey leading the offense. Bailey reached base four times, and redshirt freshman James Hankerson Jr. recorded his second consecutive two-hit game of the weekend.

🔥 Pitching Takes Center Stage

Friday Starter: Jamie Arnold – The FSU ace allowed three early runs but bounced back strong, finishing with six strikeouts over four innings, touching 95 mph with his fastball.

Breakout Arm? USF Transfer Joey Volini – The right-hander flashed a nasty curveball, striking out hitters in key moments and keeping his ERA in check.

On Sunday, sophomore John Abraham delivered six strikeouts over four innings, touching 94 mph, while JUCO transfer Nick Greaney impressed with two scoreless frames.

🔼 Defense & Aggressive Baserunning on Display

FSU’s outfield athleticism was a major focus this offseason, and it showed:
🛑 Chase Williams made two diving catches to save runs.
🚀 Brody DeLamielleure fired a perfect throw from left field for an outfield assist.
Aggressive on the basepaths – Williams, Carns, and DeLamielleure stole multiple bases, adding a new element to FSU’s offensive attack.

With Opening Day set for Feb. 16 against James Madison, the Seminoles are showing a mix of power, speed, and deep pitching that could define their 2025 season.

🏈 2027 QB Kavian Bryant Visits FSU, Plans Return Trip

Florida State welcomed one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class to campus over the weekend, as Top-100 prospect Kavian Bryant made a multi-day visit to Tallahassee. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound signal-caller from Palestine (Tex.) High School was offered by the Seminoles in early January and used this visit to strengthen relationships with FSU’s coaching staff.

🔑 Key Takeaways from Bryant’s Visit:

  • Bryant spent extensive time with head coach Mike Norvell, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, and quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz.

  • He was impressed by how well the staff evaluated his unique playing style.

  • Bryant on FSU’s Coaches:
📢 “Coach Norvell brings great energy and is always honest.”
🏈 “Coach Malzahn has great football knowledge and knows how to create the best offense.”
🤝 “Coach Tokarz is a family-like type of QB coach.”

  • FSU made a strong impression, and Bryant has already confirmed he will return for another visit.

🏀 A Two-Sport Star Bryant isn’t just a standout on the gridiron—he’s an elite basketball player as well. He averaged 30.7 points per game as a sophomore and is drawing national attention in both sports.

Ranked as the No. 96 overall player and No. 10 quarterback in the 2027 class by 247Sports, Bryant is keeping his options open for now, but Florida State has positioned itself as a serious contender.

💪 4-Star OL Brandon Anderson Visits FSU, Puts Seminoles in Top Three

Florida State made a major move in the recruitment of four-star interior offensive lineman Brandon Anderson, who visited Tallahassee for Junior Day just days after decommitting from Tennessee and described the visit as a “10 out of 10.”

👀 Big Takeaways from the Visit:

✅ FSU now in Anderson’s Top 3
✅ “10 out of 10” visit experience
✅ Strong relationships with OL coach Herb Hand & assistant OL coach Cooper Williams

The 6-foot-5, 335-pound North Cobb (Ga.) standout, ranked as a top-300 national prospect, has quickly built a strong connection with the new-look Seminoles staff.

🔜 What’s Next?

Anderson plans to return for a spring practice and an official visit this summer. However, FSU will have to battle other top programs still in the mix:
📅 LSU – March 9
📅 Georgia – March 13
📅 Miami – March 15
📅 Tennessee (official visit) – June 22-24

📊 FSU’s Position in His Recruitment

Getting Anderson on campus so quickly after his decommitment was a major win for the Seminoles. While his recruitment is still open, FSU is firmly in the mix as one of his top choices.

🛬 4-Star OT Sam Greer Makes First Visit to FSU, Plans Spring Return

FSU Hosts Top Ohio Prospect, Eyes Second Visit

Florida State welcomed four-star offensive tackle Sam Greer to campus for the first time over the weekend, giving the Akron, Ohio, prospect a chance to meet the coaching staff and get a feel for the Seminoles’ new offensive approach.

Greer, a 6-foot-8, 290-pound lineman from the 2026 class, is ranked No. 175 nationally and the 14th-best offensive tackle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

🏈 FSU’s Message to Greer

During Junior Day, Greer spent time with assistant offensive line coach Cooper Williams, who previously recruited him while at Missouri.

On the visit overall: “It was great. I had a good time meeting the coaches, meeting the staff and just seeing what they’re all about.”
On Williams’ message to him: “He was wanting to get me back down.”
On the new FSU offense under Gus Malzahn: “They want to run like a real fast offense this year, bringing what Coach Malzahn wants. He’s bringing his offense with him, and it’s fast-tempoed.”

📊 Recruitment Outlook

Greer hasn’t narrowed his top schools yet but says he plans to after spring ball. He mentioned FSU as a school he wants to see again for a spring practice visit.

Other schools in the mix include Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

🔥 FSU’s Chances?

If Greer follows through on a return visit, FSU could become a real player in his recruitment. However, pulling an elite offensive lineman out of Ohio is always a challenge—especially if Ohio State pushes for him. The Buckeyes just lost OL coach Justin Frye to the Arizona Cardinals, which could shake things up.

For now, FSU remains in the mix and will look to capitalize on its early relationship with Greer and Williams’ recruiting ties.
