Defensive Dominance

Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff expressed her pride in the team's fourth-quarter performance, stating, "It's nice to play them at home in front of an awesome crowd and come out with a win. I'm proud of how, as a team, we locked down and focused on both ends and got stops."

The Seminoles showcased their defensive prowess by holding Miami to just two points in the last 5 ยฝ minutes of the game, securing their fourth NET Top 50 win of the season.

Key Moments

Momentum swung in FSU's favor when junior guard O'Mariah Gordon sank a crucial 3-pointer to tie the game at 66-66 with 4:56 remaining. Following pivotal stops, sophomore Ta'Niya Latson's tough layup reclaimed the lead at 68-66.

The defining moment came with a 3-point field goal by fifth-year guard Sara Bejedi, making it a two-possession game at 73-68 with 1:18 left. Bejedi, who reached the milestone of 100 career 3-point field goals, delivered one of the biggest shots of her career during the game.

Stellar Performances

Junior forward Makayla Timpson recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. O'Mariah Gordon's 16 points, six rebounds, and crucial blocks, along with contributions from Latson and Bejedi, highlighted a balanced offensive effort.

Coach's Praise

Coach Wyckoff commended Gordon's leadership, stating, "I'm proud of 'O' and how she led us today with 36 minutes on the floor." Gordon's impactful plays, including a momentum-shifting 3-pointer to end the third quarter, showcased her resilience and strategic contributions.

Road Ahead

Braden Fiske Shines at Senior Bowl, Eyes NFL Scouting Combine

In a week filled with star-studded talent at the Senior Bowl, former Florida State defensive tackle Braden Fiske emerged as a standout, earning accolades as the top defensive lineman on the American Team. Fiske, who finished his invitation-only stint with four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and a quarterback hurry, stood out among the NFL Draft prospects. Despite facing frequent double-teams, the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder showcased his dominance, prompting NFL Network announcer Charles Davis to suggest he deserved the top honor at the Senior Bowl.

Reflecting on the experience, Fiske expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Just the opportunity to come out here and give it all. They call this the best of the best, and I believe it now. This was awesome. And I think the best part about it was learning from everybody." Fiske emphasized the value of learning from players and coaches representing different schools and backgrounds.

The versatile defensive player played both defensive tackle and end during the Senior Bowl, displaying his adaptability. He commented, "Wherever I can get in and make a team and make an impact. That's what it is for me. Whatever I can do to get on the field."

Despite the late switch to the National Team, Fiske's performance drew praise from players, coaches, and media. "I told Mr. Nagy (Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy), this is the place you come to prove yourself right," Fiske said. "You believe you're the best player. You come out here, you compete against the best, and that's all I wanted to do."

Fellow Florida State alums Johnny Wilson and Jaheim Bell also received praise during the Senior Bowl week, highlighting the Seminoles' representation. As Fiske returns to Miami for training, he looks forward to the NFL Scouting Combine later this month, eager to showcase his skills at the next level.

Fiske's impressive showing at the Senior Bowl adds another chapter to the legacy of Florida State players excelling on the national stage, setting the stage for anticipation as he navigates the path to the NFL. ๐Ÿˆ๐ŸŒŸ
