โšพ FSU vs. Tennessee in College World Series Opener โšพ

Florida State (47-15) will face No. 1 Tennessee (55-12) in their College World Series opener on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN. This marks FSU's 24th CWS appearance and first since 2019. The Seminoles swept UConn in the Super Regional, highlighted by James Tibbs IIIโ€™s dramatic 12th-inning home run.

Bracket Breakdown:

  • Bracket 1: FSU, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia.

  • Bracket 2: Kentucky, Texas A&M, Florida, and the winner of Georgia vs. NC State.

Tennessee, led by Tony Vitello, has made back-to-back trips to the CWS for the first time in program history. They are the only SEC program to achieve this in the past four seasons. The No. 1 overall seed has not won the championship since 1999, adding to the intrigue.

Florida State men's basketball assistant coach Steve Smith is leaving the Seminoles for Boston College, reuniting with Eagles' head coach Earl Grant, whom he worked with at Clemson. Smith spent five successful seasons at FSU, contributing to the Sweet 16 run in 2021, the 2020 ACC Championship, and recruiting the nation's No. 2 class.

Following the conclusion of Florida State's Elite Camp, several new scholarship offers were extended to standout prospects.

2027 QB Trent Seaborn: Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson quarterback impressed with his precision and arm strength, earning an offer. He has passed for 3,778 yards with 42 touchdowns in his freshman and eighth grade seasons and holds nearly 20 offers, including from Alabama and Auburn.

2025 OL Sean Poret: The Atlanta (Ga.) Riverwood lineman received an offer after showcasing his athleticism. FSU has been evaluating him since the spring, and his performance at camp solidified the offer. Poret's offer list includes Boston College, Duke, and Vanderbilt.

2026 OL Michael Ionata: Clearwater (Fla.) Calvary Christian standout earned an offer. Standing at 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, Ionata impressed with his technique and ability. His family has a legacy at FSU, with his uncle and father being former players.

2026 OL Jai'Vale Fredericks: Daphne (Ala.) lineman earned an offer with his good measurements and footwork. He has offers from Alabama A&M, Austin Peay, and Tulane, with interest from major programs like Alabama and Auburn.

2028 OL Hunter Hill: Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County's 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman earned his first offer from FSU. Hill has a strong family football background, with his uncle playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.

2026 EDGE Jake Kreul: Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore's four-star edge rusher earned an offer. Kreul is known for his quickness and frame utilization, making him a top prospect with an extensive offer list.

2027 LB Jake Godfree: Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett linebacker received an offer after showcasing his physicality and speed. Godfree's offer list already includes more than a dozen schools.

2026 DB Chauncey (CJ) Davis Jr.: Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett cornerback earned an offer. Davis is a strong, competitive cornerback with offers from UConn, Michigan State, and USF.
