Florida State baseball has secured a major portal addition in Trey Beard, a First-Team All-AAC left-handed pitcher from Florida Atlantic who brings elite upside and Seminole roots to Tallahassee.
🎙 “Growing up, I had always been a Seminole fan… what really brought me to Tallahassee was the conversations I had with Coach Posey and Coach Jarrett. They made FSU feel like it was home.” – Trey Beard to Noles247
📈 2025 Season Highlights:
• 15 starts | 86.0 IP | 3.14 ERA
• 118 strikeouts | .199 opponent BA | Only 5 HR allowed
• 6+ innings in 10 starts, including six 10+ strikeout games
• Midseason Golden Spikes Award Watchlist
• Team USA Collegiate National Team invitee
🧠 Scouting Snapshot:
The 6’2” southpaw throws from an over-the-top slot, giving hitters an uncomfortable angle. His low-90s fastball pairs with a sharp changeup and a developing big curveball — with the changeup rated as his best secondary offering in 2025.
🔭 Looking Ahead:
Beard isn’t draft eligible yet and joins FSU with two years of eligibility remaining. He becomes the second portal addition for the Noles this offseason, alongside Davidson infielder Eli Putnam.
🎯 Goal: Help FSU make a serious Omaha push in 2026.
