🏹 Welcome to The Chief Brief! 🏹

Happy Monday, Seminole!

From a dramatic win in the Tallahassee Regional to a recruiting weekend that could help shape the 2026 class, Florida State packed a lot into one weekend.

Here’s what we’ve got on deck:

🚨 Coach Tossed Early
FSU’s Link Jarrett was ejected in the 2nd inning of Sunday’s Regional Final — and the team responded with grit.

Cardiac Noles Strike Again
Down 2–0 in the 7th, the Noles stormed back to beat Mississippi State 5–2 and punch their ticket to the Super Regionals.

📝 Six Top Prospects Wrap Official Visits
Several 4-star visitors — including OT Johnnie Jones, DL Kendall Guervil, and DB Traeviss Stevenson — left campus impressed. Some may be close to flipping.

💥 Guervil’s Big Shift
One of the weekend’s biggest names, 4-star DL Kendall Guervil, now has FSU in his top 3 (or 4?) after being “iffy” on the Noles just weeks ago.

🌟 Legacy Moment: Timmons Jr. Offered
FSU offered 2026 DB Lawrence “Jay” Timmons — son of former Seminole legend Lawrence Timmons — after a standout camp showing.

📬 Seven New Offers Issued
From 2026 through 2028, Florida State extended offers to rising stars across multiple classes — including top QB Braylen Warren and local standout Izayah Vickers.

It was a weekend full of statement wins — on the field and on the trail.

Let’s get into it. 👇

Pet insurance could help you offset rising veterinary costs

Veterinarians nationwide reported that corporate managers pushed clinics to focus on profit, with vets often paid based on revenue. This encouraged them to see more pets, order more tests, and upsell services, creating a growing burden for uninsured pet owners. Pet insurance could help you offset some of these rising costs, with some providing up to 90% reimbursement. View Money’s top pet insurance picks to see plans starting at only $10/month.

Florida State had to finish Sunday’s Regional Final without its skipper.

Head coach Link Jarrett was ejected in the second inning after a heated exchange with home plate umpire Joe Burleson. The incident followed a controversial strikeout of James Hankerson Jr., during which Mississippi State pitcher Karson Ligon yelled and gestured toward the FSU dugout.

Jarrett took issue with the lack of an immediate warning or disciplinary action — and possibly with the strikeout call itself, which came on a check swing. After about a minute of arguing, Burleson tossed Jarrett from the game.

At the time of the ejection, FSU trailed 1–0 following a leadoff homer from Gehrig Frei.

⚾ Comeback Noles! FSU Drops Mississippi State to Win Regional ⚾

The cardiac Noles do it again — and this one sends them to the Super Regionals.

Down 2–0 entering the seventh, No. 9 Florida State stormed back to beat Mississippi State 5–2 Sunday night, clinching the NCAA Tallahassee Regional and moving two wins away from a trip to Omaha.

🔥 Cal Fisher tied the game with a two-run bomb in the 7th
💪 Max Williams followed with a two-RBI single in the 8th to give FSU the lead
🎯 Myles Bailey added insurance with a 108 MPH RBI single up the middle

But the night belonged to Wes Mendes.

The freshman lefty threw a career-best 8 innings, allowing just 2 runs with 9 strikeouts and only 105 pitches. Joe Charles shut the door with a dominant 9th, striking out the side to earn his second save of the weekend.

💡 By the numbers:
• FSU stranded 15 runners on base — but made them count late
• Only 7 earned runs allowed by the pitching staff across 3 games
• Jarrett was ejected in the 2nd — and the team rallied without him

Next up: A Super Regional showdown with Omaha on the line.

📝 6 Recruits Wrap Up Official Visits to FSU 📝

Florida State hosted a key group of 2026 recruits this past weekend — and early returns suggest the Seminoles made major moves with several committed prospects.

🌟 Who Visited:
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OT Johnnie Jones – Top 150 national prospect
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OL Samuel Roseborough
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ DL Kendall Guervil
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️ WR Camden Capehart (Mississippi State commit)
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️ OL Jakobe Green (Mississippi State commit)
• ⭐️⭐️⭐️ DB Traeviss Stevenson (Georgia Tech commit)

🔁 Key Takeaways:

DB Traeviss Stevenson admitted he and FSU “started off on the wrong foot” after missing an expected offer last year, but said this visit flipped his entire perspective: “They showed me that I’m a priority here.” He’s eyeing a July 10 decision.

OT Johnnie Jones, a top OL target, praised the staff’s honesty and energy, especially his connection with OL coach Herb Hand and head coach Mike Norvell. He loved the run-heavy offensive scheme and plans to decide after all visits conclude later this month.

OL Jakobe Green, a local product from Gadsden County, said the late offer didn’t bother him. “I’m just thankful they offered me,” he said, adding that FSU’s use of virtual reality tech impressed him. It’s a two-horse race between the ‘Noles and Mississippi State.

WR Camden Capehart, one of the fastest players in Texas, said Gus Malzahn’s pitch to use him as a gadget weapon — screens, reverses, and more — “fits me perfectly.” He’ll choose between FSU, Mississippi State, and possibly UCLA after mid-June.

This weekend may prove pivotal as FSU pushes to flip several targets ahead of the July decision window.

💥 4-Star DL Kendall Guervil Puts FSU in Top 3 After Visit 💥

Florida State made a strong impression on Fort Myers standout Kendall Guervil, the highest-ranked prospect on campus this weekend — and it may have shifted his recruitment.

Ranked No. 130 nationally and the No. 12 DL in the 2026 class (On3), Guervil admitted he was originally “sketchy” about FSU. But after his official visit?

“It’s definitely one of my top schools now. They’re definitely top three.”

🏠 Family Vibes Matter
Guervil emphasized FSU’s “family-oriented” culture as the main reason for the shift. He was greeted outside by the entire defensive line and spent quality time with coaches Mike Norvell, Terrance Knighton, Odell Haggins, and analyst D’Mitri Emmanuel.

⚙️ Scheme + Fit
He noted that Tony White’s defense mirrors what he runs in high school, and he’s intrigued by FSU’s approach to cross-training defensive linemen at multiple positions — a valuable prep for the NFL level.

🗓️ What’s Next?
Though Texas and Florida still hold the top two spots, FSU is trending up and will likely host Guervil again — possibly multiple times this fall. He expects to return for the Alabama game and make a final decision during the Early Signing Period in December.

“Just keep doing what they’re doing,” he said of how FSU can move higher.

🌟 Legacy DB Lawrence Timmons Jr. Offered by FSU After Elite Camp 🌟

Florida State’s Elite Camp delivered a major recruiting twist on Sunday — and a full-circle moment for one of its attendees.

Four-star defensive back Lawrence “Jay” Timmons, son of former FSU linebacker and NFL first-rounder Lawrence Timmons, received a scholarship offer from head coach Mike Norvell following a strong workout in Tallahassee.

Timmons, currently committed to Indiana, was visibly emotional after the offer.

🗣️ “This has been a dream since I was a kid... I can’t get a smile off my face. I’ve been thinking about this for 17 years,” he said. “Indiana is home right now, but we’ll see what happens.”

Timmons is ranked as the No. 23 cornerback in the 2026 class by 247Sports and has visited Florida State multiple times. The Seminoles are recruiting him as a versatile defensive back capable of playing either corner or safety.

An official visit to FSU is now in the works.

📬 FSU Hands Out Offers to 7 Recruits After Elite Camp Showcase 📬

Florida State’s Elite Camp lived up to the hype — and several standouts left with scholarship offers.

Across multiple recruiting classes, the Seminoles extended seven new offers on Sunday, including to a familiar name for longtime fans.

🌟 2026 CB Jay Timmons (Indiana commit)
As previously covered, the son of FSU great Lawrence Timmons, Jay impressed in his workout and landed an offer from Coach Norvell. It was his fourth visit to Tallahassee.
🔢 Ranked No. 23 CB nationally and No. 9 in Pennsylvania.

🛡️ 2026 DL Judah Daniels
The 6’3, 265-pound Fort Myers product earned his first offer after working out with DL coach Terrance Knighton. He plans to return to campus again soon.

🧠 2027 QB Braylen Warren
The four-star from Omaha (Neb.) Westside passed for 2,100+ yards and 30 TDs last season. His strong arm and decision-making impressed the staff.
🔢 Ranked No. 29 QB nationally in the 2027 class.

🧪 2027 S Savoy Guidry
From New Orleans (La.) Holy Cross, Guidry stood out in coverage and landed a well-earned offer. He now holds six total.

🚀 2028 QB Knox Annis
Jacksonville’s Mandarin QB continues to build buzz. He’s already up to a dozen offers after another strong camp showing.

💪 2028 LB Deshawn Simmons
A 6’3, 215-pound force out of Fort Walton Beach, Simmons may project as an edge rusher long-term. FSU is now his 10th offer.

🏃 2028 CB Izayah Vickers
A local standout from Florida High (Tallahassee), Vickers is also an elite track athlete. His speed and agility popped on Sunday.

The Elite Camp proved to be a major evaluation opportunity — and FSU’s staff wasted no time locking in on future stars.

And that’s a wrap!

That’s a wrap on one of the most consequential weekends of the year.

From Omaha hopes to recruiting flips, Florida State is making moves on every front — and the momentum is real. With Super Regionals next on deck and a wave of 2026 decisions looming, June could be a game-changer for the Garnet & Gold.

See you tomorrow, same time, same tribe. 🍢
