Florida State women's golf continues to stack national accolades, with Sophia Fullbrook adding another major honor following one of the best individual seasons in the country.
🏆 All-America Recognition
Fullbrook was named a Second Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
She becomes the latest Seminole to earn national recognition in a program that has now produced an All-American for 10 consecutive seasons.
The honor caps another remarkable year for Florida State women's golf.
📈 Elite Sophomore Campaign
Fullbrook competed in 12 tournaments during the 2025-26 season.
She captured three individual victories and recorded seven top-10 finishes.
Her 71.16 scoring average tied for the eighth-best single-season mark in program history.
🔥 Finished Strong on the Biggest Stage
Fullbrook placed 20th at the NCAA Championship while finishing the tournament at even par.
She played a key role in helping Florida State secure one of the most successful seasons in program history.
Her consistency throughout the postseason further elevated her national profile.
🌍 National and International Recognition
Fullbrook finished the season ranked No. 18 by Scoreboard.
She also sits No. 44 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Earlier this spring, she earned All-ACC honors and was named ACC Co-Golfer of the Month for March.
🇺🇸 Next Stop: Curtis Cup
Fullbrook has been selected to compete for the R&A Curtis Cup team.
The prestigious event will take place June 12-14 at Bel-Air Country Club.
The selection adds another milestone to an already decorated sophomore season.
Why It Matters: Florida State women's golf has established itself as one of the nation's premier programs, and Sophia Fullbrook is quickly becoming one of its next stars. With multiple tournament wins, All-America honors, and international competition ahead, the sophomore continues to build a résumé that could place her among the program's all-time greats before her career is finished.
Florida State's team season may have ended before match play, but Jack Whaley made sure the Seminoles were represented until the very last round of the NCAA Championship.
🏹 Finished Among the Nation's Best
Whaley entered Monday's final round as one of only nine individuals advancing from non-qualifying teams.
The junior delivered again, shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round.
He finished tied for 14th nationally at 6-under par for the tournament.
📈 Strong Finish from Start to Finish
Whaley opened the day with a birdie on his second hole before battling through a back-and-forth front nine.
Birdies on holes 15 and 17 helped him build momentum heading into the turn.
He added another birdie on the par-5 sixth before closing the tournament with a birdie on the ninth.
💪 Consistency on College Golf's Biggest Stage
Competing in his first NCAA Championship, Whaley posted rounds of 72, 68, 73, and 69.
He finished under par in two of the four rounds.
His performance kept him firmly in contention among the nation's top players throughout the championship.
📚 Joining Elite Company
Whaley's four-round total of 282 tied for the fourth-lowest NCAA Championship score in Florida State history.
He matched marks previously recorded by Seminole standouts Jonas Blixt (2007) and Luke Clanton (2024).
The finish further strengthens his standing among the program's rising stars.
Why It Matters: Florida State's team run ended before the final round, but Jack Whaley delivered one of the best NCAA Championship performances by a Seminole in recent memory. In his championship debut, he not only advanced as an individual but also etched his name alongside some of the most accomplished golfers in program history.
Florida State volleyball has added an accomplished coach with extensive professional and international experience, as Lindsay Allman announced the hiring of Ángel Pérez as an assistant coach.
🔥 Championship Resume Arrives in Tallahassee
Pérez joins Florida State after spending the last three seasons as head coach of the Columbus Fury in the Major League Volleyball (MLV).
Prior to that, he led Las Pinkin de Corozal to Puerto Rico league championships in both 2022 and 2023.
He was named the league's Manager of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
🌎 International Experience Runs Deep
Pérez enjoyed a professional playing career across Europe, competing in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Romania, and Slovenia.
He also starred for the Puerto Rican National Team.
During his international career, Puerto Rico earned silver at the 2007 NORCECA Championship and bronze at the 2010 Pan-American Cup.
🏹 Leadership on and off the Court
Pérez served as captain of Puerto Rico's national team from 2013 to 2018.
His background includes experience as both an elite player and professional head coach.
That combination brings a unique perspective to Florida State's coaching staff.
Why It Matters: Florida State is adding a proven winner with championship experience at both the professional and international levels. Pérez brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge, leadership, and player-development experience that could make an immediate impact as the Seminoles continue building under Lindsay Allman.

Florida State softball received its most significant transfer portal news of the offseason Tuesday, as one of the program's most accomplished players announced plans to explore new opportunities.
🚨 Jaysoni Beachum Enters the Portal
Junior third baseman Jaysoni Beachum announced her intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
The Tallahassee native was a three-year starter and one of the faces of the program.
She becomes the third Seminole to enter the portal this offseason, joining Addie DeLong and Mimi Gooden.
⭐ One of the Best Players in the Country
Beachum started all 62 games for Florida State in 2026.
She hit .406 with 10 home runs and 69 RBI.
Her 69 RBI ranked fourth-most in school history.
🏆 Awards Filled Her Résumé
Beachum earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2026.
She was named an NFCA First Team All-Region selection and a Softball America Second Team All-American.
She also earned a spot on the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team.
📈 An Historic Seminole Career
As a freshman in 2024, Beachum won both the NFCA and D1Softball National Freshman of the Year awards.
She hit .417 with 16 home runs and 66 RBI while setting Florida State's freshman RBI record.
Beachum became the first Seminole and first ACC player ever to win the NFCA Freshman of the Year award.
🏹 Big Shoes to Fill
Few players have matched Beachum's combination of production and consistency over three seasons.
She was a major contributor to Florida State's success throughout her career.
Replacing her bat and leadership will be one of the program's biggest offseason challenges.
Why It Matters: This is more than just another transfer portal entry. Jaysoni Beachum leaves as one of the most decorated players in recent Florida State softball history and one of the nation's premier hitters. While the Seminoles still have plenty of talent returning, losing a player of Beachum's caliber creates a major hole in both the lineup and the clubhouse heading into 2027.
Florida State's 2027 quarterback commit isn't waiting until signing day to make an impact. Logan Flaherty has already embraced one of the most important responsibilities that comes with being the face of a recruiting class.
🔥 Recruiting Mission Already Underway
Flaherty committed to Florida State just a few weeks ago.
Since then, he's quickly stepped into a leadership role within the 2027 class.
The Port Charlotte quarterback says he's focused on helping "build a class around me" and restoring Florida State football to where it belongs.
📈 Putting in the Work Personally
Flaherty attended FSU's Elite Day camp last weekend and will return for his official visit this weekend.
He expects to make additional trips to Tallahassee later this month.
Rather than simply texting recruits, he's making a point to be present around the program as often as possible.
🎯 Targeting Some of FSU's Biggest Priorities
Flaherty says he's been actively recruiting four-star receiver Sean Green and four-star running back Jayden Miles.
Green recently visited Georgia, while Miles is coming off an official visit to Florida State and still has trips scheduled to LSU, Ohio State, and Kentucky.
The quarterback described both as players he's constantly communicating with.
🏹 Building Momentum for the Future
Flaherty also mentioned working on several tight end prospects.
Additional targets expected on campus this weekend include running backs Asa Barnes and Tai Phillips.
With official visit season underway, Flaherty hopes to help turn relationships into commitments.
Why It Matters: Quarterbacks often become the centerpiece of recruiting classes, and Logan Flaherty appears eager to embrace that responsibility. Florida State's 2027 class is still in its early stages, but having a committed quarterback actively helping recruit top targets could play an important role in building momentum throughout the summer.
Florida State’s 2027 recruiting class remains in a fragile spot, with recent defensive losses and decommitments putting even more pressure on the Seminoles to find momentum during official visit season.
😬 Mekhi Williams’ Exit Still Looms Large
Four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams recently decommitted from Florida State after visiting Wisconsin.
Williams had been the highest-ranked pledge in FSU’s 2027 class.
His departure reinforced concerns about the Seminoles’ ability to hold top targets while Mike Norvell’s future remains under scrutiny.
📉 Clemson Keeps Hurting FSU on the Trail
Four-star defensive end Desmond Malpress committed to Clemson after previously visiting Florida State.
The Tigers also recently landed four-star defensive end Santana Harvey, another prospect FSU had heavily pursued.
Both recruitments add to the frustration surrounding Florida State’s defensive line board.
🏹 Trenches Still Matter Most
FSU did land defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr., which helped offset some of the negative momentum.
Still, losing edge targets like Malpress and Harvey makes the rest of the defensive front board even more important.
Four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune now feels like a near-must-win target for the Seminoles.
⚡ June Becomes a Make-or-Break Month
Official visit season gives Florida State a chance to change the narrative quickly.
The Seminoles still have multiple priority targets coming to Tallahassee over the next few weekends.
A strong run of commitments could stabilize the class, but more misses would make the concern level rise fast.
Why It Matters: Florida State doesn’t need every recruiting battle to break perfectly, but it does need proof that the program can still close. The next few weeks will determine whether this class starts gaining real traction or whether the negative momentum around the 2027 cycle continues to build.
With Mekhi Williams no longer committed, Florida State now has to quickly reset its defensive back priorities and capitalize on several upcoming official visits.
🔥 Ta’Shawn Poole Becomes a Major Name to Watch
Four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole is scheduled to officially visit Florida State on June 12.
The Macon, Georgia prospect has also drawn serious interest from Clemson and Tennessee.
Clemson’s recent recruiting momentum makes this one especially important for FSU to monitor closely.
📈 Joshua Vilmael Could Be a Real Opportunity
Four-star defensive back Joshua Vilmael is a newer name on Florida State’s board.
The Texas prospect unofficially visited Tallahassee in April and is expected back for an official visit on June 19.
North Carolina and Kansas State remain involved, but FSU could make a strong move if it pushes hard.
👀 Kamarion Johnson Sets Up Another Rivalry Battle
Three-star safety Kamarion Johnson recently included Florida State in his top three alongside Florida and Cincinnati.
He is scheduled to officially visit FSU on June 12.
Florida currently appears to be the team to beat, but the Seminoles will get their chance to close the gap.
Three-star cornerback Kamil Loud has scheduled an official visit to Florida State for June 19.
The Las Vegas prospect previously visited FSU unofficially in April.
He also plans to visit Cal before sitting down with his family to make a decision.
Why It Matters: Losing Mekhi Williams hurts, but Florida State still has options at defensive back. The challenge now is turning interest into commitments quickly, especially with several official visits lined up in June and the perception of the class still very much in flux.
🏈🎯 FSU Has Several Winnable Battles With Priority Targets 🎯🏈
Despite the recent misses, Florida State still appears well-positioned with several key offensive and defensive targets who could change the tone of the 2027 class.
Georgia edge rusher Jaxon Holly said his recruitment is essentially down to Florida State and Auburn.
Auburn made a strong impression during his first official visit, but FSU still has the advantage of familiarity.
Holly has built strong relationships with Terrance Knighton and Mike Norvell, and Florida State gets the final official visit on June 12.
Virginia wide receiver Cam Wade will officially visit Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Maryland before committing July 1.
Wade has visited Tallahassee multiple times and said FSU is “definitely right there.”
His relationships with Mike Norvell, Tim Harris Jr., and the staff continue to work in Florida State’s favor.
Four-star wide receiver Sean Green is expected in Tallahassee this weekend for an official visit.
Green recently visited Georgia, but his return to FSU suggests the Seminoles remain firmly involved.
He said Florida State could “most definitely” close things out if the NIL and revenue-sharing pieces line up.
🏹 Tim Harris Jr. Is a Major Selling Point
Green likes the idea of playing for a wide receivers coach who also serves as offensive coordinator.
Wade also pointed to Harris’ offensive vision and ability to push the ball downfield.
Florida State’s offensive staff has a real chance to close on multiple receiver targets if the visits go well.
Why It Matters: Florida State badly needs recruiting wins, and these are the types of battles that can shift the mood quickly. If the Seminoles can close on players like Sean Green, Cam Wade, or Jaxon Holly, the conversation around the 2027 class could look very different by July.
Florida State missed on one kicking target over the weekend, but the Seminoles quickly turned their attention to one of the top specialists in the country.
😬 Noah Ash Comes Off the Board
Florida State had been involved with Ponte Vedra Beach kicker Noah Ash.
Ash was previously expected to officially visit FSU.
Instead, he committed to Auburn after taking an official visit there over the weekend.
🎯 Gabriel Goroyan Becomes the New Target
Florida State offered California kicker Gabriel Goroyan on Monday evening.
Goroyan is ranked as the No. 1 kicker in the 2027 class by Chris Sailer Kicking.
He quickly scheduled an official visit to Tallahassee for the weekend of June 19.
💥 Special Teams Profile Stands Out
Goroyan is a left-footed kicker with 55-plus yard field goal range.
His kickoffs are considered Division I-ready, with deep balls into the end zone and strong hang time.
He is also viewed as a capable punter, adding extra value as a specialist prospect.
👀 FSU Bumps Colorado From the Schedule
Goroyan previously had Colorado lined up for the June 19 weekend.
Florida State replaced the Buffaloes on that official visit date.
He also has visits scheduled with Wake Forest and Virginia after already seeing UCLA.
Why It Matters: Kicker recruiting rarely gets the same attention as quarterback or defensive line recruiting, but landing an elite specialist can quietly swing seasons. After missing on Noah Ash, Florida State moved quickly and now has a chance to make a strong impression on the top-ranked kicker in the 2027 class.
Florida State may have found one of the most intriguing rising prospects from its Seminole Showcase, offering 2028 edge rusher Mikel Morgan after a standout camp performance.
🔥 Morgan Earned an Offer on the Spot
Morgan entered the weekend as an unranked 2028 prospect from Lake City, Florida.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound edge rusher impressed enough to earn an immediate offer from Florida State.
The Seminoles appear to believe his frame and movement skills translate to Power Four football.
📈 Other Offers Quickly Followed
After Florida State offered, Morgan also picked up offers from Syracuse, Mississippi State, and FIU.
His recruitment appears likely to grow quickly over the coming months.
Recruiting services may eventually boost his profile if that momentum continues.
💥 The Physical Tools Are Obvious
Morgan still needs to add weight to stay on the edge long term.
His length, frame, and athletic movement stood out during camp work.
FSU’s staff clearly saw enough upside to get involved before his recruitment fully takes off.
🏹 Early Evaluation Could Be Critical for FSU
Florida State may need to win more battles by identifying rising prospects early.
Morgan represents the type of player who could become much harder to land if his ranking climbs.
Offering now gives the Seminoles a chance to build the relationship before the rest of the Power Four fully wakes up.
Why It Matters: Not every major recruiting win starts with a five-star ranking. Sometimes the key is identifying the right player before everyone else does. Mikel Morgan may not be a household name yet, but his Seminole Showcase performance could make him one of the more important 2028 prospects to monitor moving forward.
And that’s a wrap!
🏹 One thing is clear: June is about to tell us a lot.
Between official visits, recruiting battles, transfer portal movement, and postseason success across multiple sports, the next few weeks could dramatically shape what Florida State looks like in 2026 and beyond.
We'll be tracking every commitment, every visit, and every twist along the way.
See you tomorrow,
The Chief Brief Team 🍢🏹
