📝 FSU Baseball Lands Davidson Slugger Eli Putnam from Portal 📝
The ‘Noles just added serious firepower for 2026.
Davidson infielder Eli Putnam has committed to Florida State out of the transfer portal, giving Link Jarrett a veteran bat with power, versatility, and elite Cape Cod League experience.
🗣️ “FSU is the pinnacle of college baseball… The coaching staff, atmosphere, and history are unmatched.”
📊 Putnam by the Numbers:
• .338 career AVG | .424 OBP | .642 SLG
• 35 HR, 34 2B, 120 RBI across last two seasons
• 2024: .349 avg | 18 2B | 19 HR
• Cape Cod League (2023): .291 avg | .906 OPS | 9 SB
🧢 Versatile Resume:
• Has played all four infield spots — primarily 2B last season
• Played 1B on the Cape, with just 2 errors in 241 chances
• Goal: Stick on the left side of the infield under Coach Jarrett
Putnam is draft-eligible this summer and will test the waters, but if he returns, FSU gains one of the portal’s most productive hitters.
🛡️ Committed LB Karon Maycock Says FSU “Just Has to Keep It Up” 🛡️
Despite being firmly committed to Florida State, 2026 linebacker Karon Maycock is staying active on the recruiting trail — but says his bond with the Seminoles remains rock solid.
The Miami Central standout was back in front of FSU staff at FAU’s Elite Camp this week, including a brief chat with Coach Norvell.
🗣️ “His message was that he has got my back, and I’ve got his back, too.”
📍 Visit Rundown:
• June 20–22 – FSU (Final visit weekend)
• Recently visited Florida – praised Napier and staff
• Swapped Penn State for Syracuse – citing consistent communication
• Alabama up next – daily contact with staff has him intrigued
🔒 Why FSU Still Leads:
• He says he’s “locked in” and just wants FSU to keep doing what they’ve been doing
• Norvell’s presence and ongoing staff contact continue to resonate
🧠 What He’s Looking For:
• Love from coaches and clear fit in each team’s scheme
247Sports still shows no Crystal Ball flip predictions — and unless things shift, FSU appears to be in strong position to hold on.
🧨 Four-Star LB Rodney Colton Down to FSU and Ole Miss 🧨
One of Florida State’s biggest official visitors this weekend is Rodney Colton, a highly coveted four-star linebacker out of Newnan, GA — and the Seminoles are in his final two.
After visiting Tallahassee in the spring, Colton said FSU blew him away and quickly went from a school “in the picture” to one of his favorites.
🗣️ “Coach JP’s a great coach — there’s nothing bad I can say about him… He’s like a father figure. You can talk to him about anything.”
🔥 Why FSU Has Momentum:
• Bond with FSU LB Elijah Herring, a family friend and mentor
• Trust in LB coach John Papuchis (JP)
• Impressed by FSU’s new facilities and development plans
• Likes Tony White’s aggressive defense and LB blitz packages
🔍 What He’s Watching:
• Player bonds, locker room culture, NIL structure
• Rotation at linebacker and early playing time potential
🎯 The Decision Timeline:
• Hopes to commit on July 4th, but may push to August
• Says both staffs are offering early PT — “It’s hard to trust what you hear”
FSU’s pitch will be put to the test this weekend — and a strong visit could tip the scales.
And that’s a wrap!
With national award buzz, transfer additions, and blue-chip linebackers circling the Garnet & Gold, Florida State is surging across every front.
Tomorrow? We’ll have updates from the Elite Camp trail — and more clarity as key official visits approach.
Until then, cast your votes for Lodise, and stay dangerous. 🍢
