🏛️ FSU Board of Trustees Unanimously Approves ACC Settlement

Florida State’s legal battle with the Atlantic Coast Conference has officially come to an end, as the FSU Board of Trustees unanimously approved the settlement in a virtual meeting on Tuesday. The agreement brings major changes to the league’s revenue-sharing model and lowers exit fees for schools looking to depart in the future.

🔥 Key Takeaways from the Settlement:
📺 Unequal Revenue Sharing Introduced

  • Schools will now earn additional revenue based on TV viewership.

  • Programs with higher ratings could earn up to $15M+ extra annually.

💰 Lower Exit Fees & More Flexibility

  • Exit fee starts at $165M in 2024 and drops by $18M annually.

  • By 2029-30, the exit fee will be an estimated $75M.

  • Schools leaving in 2030 and beyond will retain their media rights.

🔊 What FSU Leaders Are Saying:
🗣️ FSU Board of Trustees Chairman Peter Collins:
"This is good for Florida State. This is really good for Florida State… Anybody that thinks it’s not is just dead wrong."

🗣️ FSU AD Michael Alford:
"This incentivizes everyone in the ACC and makes the league better. It’s good for our media partners and our conference."

🗣️ FSU President Richard McCullough:
"From the start, we’ve held firm to the belief that the best solution would be one that enables FSU and every ACC institution to earn enhanced revenue through performance."

📅 What’s Next?
The settlement terms go into effect immediately, but the legal paperwork will be finalized over the next 30 days. FSU will remain in the ACC under this new model, keeping the door open for future moves when conference realignment opportunities arise.

🏈 FSU CB Azareye’h Thomas Impresses with Length at NFL Combine

Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas took the next step in his NFL Draft journey at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, measuring in with elite length and solid overall measurables. The former Seminole did not run the 40-yard dash but will look to showcase his speed at FSU’s Pro Day next month.

🔥 Thomas’ Combine Measurements:
📏 Height: 6’1.5” (89th percentile)
⚖️ Weight: 197 lbs (69th percentile)
🖐️ Hand Size: 10” (95th percentile)
💪 Arm Length: 32.38” (81st percentile)
🪽 Wingspan: 78” (84th percentile)
🦘 Broad Jump: 10’2” (49th percentile)

🔍 NFL Draft Outlook:
Thomas has been rising up draft boards, especially after a strong Senior Bowl week. His length and physicality in press coverage make him a potential first-round pick, but his Pro Day performance could be crucial in solidifying that status.

🗣️ NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein on Thomas:
"Thomas deters early looks from quarterbacks by jabbing, crowding, and smothering receivers in press. He needs more seasoning but could become a good starter within two or three years."

📅 What’s Next?
Thomas skipped agility drills at the Combine, meaning all eyes will be on FSU’s Pro Day next month, where he’ll look to prove his speed and boost his stock in a relatively weak cornerback class.

And that’s a wrap!

From the diamond to the boardroom, Florida State is making moves that will shape its future. Baseball remains perfect, Golf brings home hardware, and Women’s Basketball continues its dominance. Meanwhile, the ACC settlement sets the stage for FSU’s next chapter in college athletics.

🔥 What’s Next?

  • FSU Baseball looks to stay undefeated vs. Bethune-Cookman.

  • FSU Women’s Basketball begins its ACC Tournament run.

  • FSU Football’s recruiting trail heats up as spring visits approach.

  • FSU Pro Day looms large for NFL Draft hopefuls.
