The No. 17 Florida State outdoor track and field teams made a strong start at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championship in Atlanta, with six athletes advancing to Saturday's finals. Highlights included standout performances in both men's and women's events.

FSU's Tyra Wilson, Suus Altorf, Dajaz DeFrand, and Kaniya Johnson showcased their prowess by securing spots in the top eight of their respective women's events. For the men, Ismael Kone and Martin Prodanov moved forward, signaling strong prospects for the finals.

Jaysoni Beachum, FSU softball's standout freshman, continues to garner national attention as she was recently named a Top 10 Finalist for the 2024 TUCCI/NFCA National Freshman of the Year award. This nomination highlights her exceptional debut season and sets her on the path to possibly becoming the first Seminole to win this prestigious accolade.
π Stellar Rookie Campaign
Beachum's remarkable freshman year has been filled with record-breaking performances, earning her the ACC Freshman of the Year and a spot on the First Team All-ACC. Her achievements include setting a new FSU freshman RBI record and ranking fifth all-time in school history with 63 RBIs this season.
π Power at the Plate
Not only has Beachum excelled in driving in runs, but she has also shown significant power, hitting 15 home runsβthe second-most by a true freshman in FSU history. She is on track to break the freshman records for batting average, hits, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage, as well as the school record for batting average over a single season.

Defensively, Beachum has proven to be a reliable third baseman, starting in 53 of the team's 54 games and making just five errors. Her consistent performance at the hot corner has been vital for the Seminoles, solidifying her role as a key player in both offense and defense.
