Jaysoni Beachum becomes FSUโ€™s first Top 3 finalist for the TUCCI/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year award. Beachum has had an outstanding season with a .425 batting average, 15 home runs, and 65 RBIs.

Florida State Women's Basketball adds Morelia Chavez, a junior forward from Eastern Arizona College, to the 2024-25 roster. Chavez brings impressive stats and accolades, including an average of 11.8 points per game and All-ACCAC DI 1st Team honors.

The No. 19 Florida State women's outdoor track and field team began the 2024 NCAA East Regional Preliminary Championships with six Noles advancing to the quarterfinals.

Advancements:

  • 100m Hurdles: Alexandra Webster (12.91)

  • 400m Hurdles: Tyra Wilson (56.45)

  • 100m Sprint: Dajaz DeFrand (11.14), Shenese Walker (11.25), Liana Tyson (11.42)

  • 1500m: Suus Altorf (4:14.85)

  • 200m: DeFrand (22.70)

The team displayed exceptional performances with multiple athletes advancing, showcasing their strength and depth. The men's team will begin their quarterfinals on Friday, starting with the 4x100 relay at 5:00 p.m.

๐ŸฅŽ Seminoles Fall to Oklahoma in Super Regional Opener ๐ŸฅŽ

The No. 15 Florida State softball team (46-15) was defeated by No. 2 Oklahoma (53-6) with a score of 10-3 on Thursday night at Love's Field in Norman, Oklahoma, in the first game of the Super Regional.

Game Highlights:

  • First Inning: FSU loaded the bases without a hit but couldn't score. Oklahoma took the lead with a solo home run.

  • Second Inning: The Sooners added a run, but FSU tied it 2-2 with a two-RBI single by Devyn Flaherty.

  • Third Inning: Oklahoma regained the lead with three runs.

  • Fourth Inning: The Sooners extended their lead with five more runs after FSU's offensive threat was halted by a double play.

  • Fifth Inning: Jahni Kerr drove in a run for FSU, but Oklahoma secured the win with a walk-off walk.

For the first time in school history, Florida State softball boasts a Top 3 Finalist for the TUCCI/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year award, with Jaysoni Beachum earning the honor on Thursday afternoon. Oklahoma's Ella Parker and Florida's Keagan Rothrock are the other finalists.

Beachumโ€™s Outstanding Season:

  • Batting: Leads FSU with a .425 average, 15 home runs, and 65 RBIs.

  • Records: Set FSU freshman records for RBIs and is on pace for batting average, hits, slugging, and on-base percentage.

  • Fielding: Started 59 games at third base with just five errors.

  • Accolades: ACC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-ACC, First Team All-Region, and three-time Softball America's Freshman of the Month.

The winner will be announced in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, May 28.

๐Ÿ€ FSU Women's Basketball Welcomes Transfer Morelia Chavez ๐ŸŒŸ

Florida State Women's Basketball Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff announced the addition of Morelia Chavez, a rising junior forward from Eastern Arizona College, to the 2024-25 roster.

Chavez's Stats and Achievements:

  • Performance: Averaged 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists per game.

  • Shooting: 41.2% from 3-point range, 84.6% from the free-throw line.

โ›ณ FSU Men's Golf Begins NCAA Championship Run ๐ŸŒŸ

No. 5 seed Florida State Men's Golf kicks off its NCAA Championship campaign on Friday at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Graduate golfer Cole Anderson will start the opening tee at 3:22 p.m. ET.

๐Ÿˆ FSU Hosts Top TE Target Hollis Davidson ๐Ÿˆ

Florida State welcomed major tight end target Hollis Davidson on Thursday. Davidson spent over four hours on campus, interacting with tight ends coach Chris Thomsen and head coach Mike Norvell. He detailed his visit and relationship with the coaching staff.

  • Arrival: Met with Coach Thomsen and toured the facilities.

  • Interactions: Spent quality time with Norvell and Thomsen, reinforcing strong connections.

  • Impressions: Appreciated the consistent messaging and genuine approach of the FSU staff.

Davidson is set for an official visit on June 21 and considers FSU a top contender alongside Florida, Texas, and Auburn. As a junior, Davidson recorded 30 receptions for 436 yards and three touchdowns. Ranked No. 27 TE in the 2025 class, he is noted for his fluid athleticism and potential as a versatile pass-catcher.
