🎓 Jamir Watkins: No. 1 on the Court, First in the Family to Graduate 🎓

Florida State guard Jamir Watkins wore No. 1 for a reason — and this weekend, that number took on a whole new meaning.

The All-ACC standout and 2025 NBA Draft Combine invitee officially became the first college graduate in his family, earning a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary social science on May 3. 🙌

💬 “Graduating from Florida State will honor the belief that my parents have always had in me… while showing my family what they can achieve,” Watkins said.

Why It Matters:

  • Led FSU in scoring in both of his seasons 🏀

  • Earned All-ACC and All-ACC Academic honors

  • Twice named to the academic Dean’s List

  • Wore No. 1 to inspire his family to reach new heights 💫

🏈 Norvell Talks Spring Wrap-Up, Portal Plans, and Roster Flexibility 🏈

Following the abrupt end to Florida State’s spring practice in light of a campus tragedy, Mike Norvell addressed the media for the first time — offering insight on the team’s mindset, spring takeaways, and where roster moves may be headed next. 🧠📋

Key Notes:

  • FSU will not reschedule the final two spring practices — the focus remained on honoring the campus community.

  • Players stayed active through finals week, but will now get a brief break before summer workouts begin.

  • Transfer portal targets remain a priority, especially at WR, OL, DL, and safety — but it won’t be a massive influx.

Roster Management Reality:

  • FSU is operating under the proposed 105-scholarship limit from the House settlement — but Judge Wilken’s recent pushback means it’s still a “fluid” situation.

  • WR departures (Williams, Brown, Scott) were not unexpected, and the room has already seen new additions and internal growth.

  • Norvell on the current wideout group: “We’ve added experience, we’ve added versatility — and we’ve got real competition.”

🔥 “We saw grit, we saw edge, and we saw a team that’s starting to understand its identity,” Norvell said of the spring.

And that’s a wrap!

History was made, legends were launched, and titles were clinched — but the best part? May is just heating up.
We’ll be back soon with postseason pushes, portal updates, and all the moments that make Tallahassee roar.

Until then — stay sharp, stay loud, and stay locked in.
Go Noles. 🔱
