Even from his hospital bed, Travis continued to actively support his teammates, celebrating freshman quarterback Brock Glenn's first touchdown with a post on social media. His actions epitomize the essence of true leadership – being a source of encouragement and strength, even when facing personal adversity.
Head Coach Mike Norvell acknowledged Travis's character, saying, “A lot of people talk about caring. He lives it. He lives it every day. His investment in this team, his investment in his teammates, this program in general, I mean, he’s special.”
The brotherhood within the Seminoles was further evident as teammates Johnny Wilson, Bryson Estes, and Maurice Smith visited Travis in the hospital, showcasing the deep connections and mutual support among the players. This camaraderie is a testament to the culture Travis has helped foster within the team.
Norvell expressed the emotional impact of Travis's injury on the team, emphasizing his importance not just as a quarterback but as a person who embodies the values and spirit of FSU. “It’s hard any time you see any player go down, but obviously Jordan is so important to this team,” Norvell said.
As FSU navigates the remainder of the season without Travis on the field, his spirit continues to inspire and guide the team. His leadership transcends the physical boundaries of the football field, resonating in the hearts of his teammates and fans alike.
Travis's journey is a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience inherent in the Seminole spirit. As the team prepares for upcoming challenges, they do so with the inspiration and guidance from one of their most influential leaders, Jordan Travis.

Rodemaker Steps Up: Seminoles' New Starting QB Rises to the Challenge
As Florida State University faces the unexpected loss of star quarterback Jordan Travis, the spotlight turns to redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker, who is set to take the reins of the Seminoles' offense for the remainder of the 2023 football season. In a pivotal moment against North Alabama, Rodemaker demonstrated his readiness for the starting role, showcasing his skills and the depth of FSU's quarterback talent.
From Backup to Starter: Rodemaker's Journey Rodemaker, known for his strong arm and surprising athleticism, stepped in for an injured Travis and immediately impacted the game, completing 13 of 23 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. His performance, alongside freshman Brock Glenn, who also saw action in the game, was a silver lining in a challenging situation.
Rodemaker's path to this moment has been a journey of persistence and development. His freshman season at FSU in 2020 was marked by growing pains, including a challenging first start against Jacksonville State.
However, Rodemaker's resilience and commitment to improvement have been evident. His clutch performance against Louisville in 2022, where he replaced an injured Travis and led FSU to a comeback win, highlighted his capabilities under pressure. Rodemaker showed strong chemistry with Johnny Wilson in the big win:
Johnny Wilson is now up to 7/149/2. Very impressive concentration on his TD catch here. And a great throw from Tate Rodemaker.

Looking Ahead: Leading the Seminoles Now, with Travis sidelined, Rodemaker's role becomes even more crucial. His next test comes in the regular season finale against Florida, where he will likely face off against the Gators' backup quarterback, Max Brown, due to an injury to UF's starter, Graham Mertz.
Rodemaker's strengths lie in his arm strength and ability to make some plays with his feet. However, he will need to refine his pocket awareness and decision-making to maximize his effectiveness as FSU's starting quarterback.
In a season marked by FSU's resurgence, Rodemaker's performance and leadership will be key factors in the team's pursuit of an undefeated regular season and an ACC Championship.
Teammates' Confidence and Rodemaker's Preparation Coach Norvell and FSU's players have expressed confidence in Rodemaker's abilities. His consistent preparation and experience, coupled with the support of his teammates, position him to lead the Seminoles effectively.
Veteran running back Lawrance Toafili noted Rodemaker's work ethic and readiness for this moment, highlighting his commitment to the team despite being a backup for four years.
As FSU prepares for the upcoming challenges, Rodemaker's journey from a backup to the starting quarterback is a testament to his dedication and the team's depth. The Seminoles' success in the remaining games, starting with the critical matchup against Florida, will hinge on Rodemaker's ability to seize this opportunity and guide the team forward.
Seminoles Women's Basketball Dominates in Seminole Heritage Game
In a commanding display of teamwork and skill, the No. 12 Florida State Women's Basketball team secured an impressive 80-45 victory over South Alabama in their Seminole Heritage game.
Junior forward Makayla Timpson led the charge with her 15th career double-double, scoring a game-high 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Seminoles' offense shone brightly, with five players hitting double-figure scoring, showcasing the depth and versatility of the team.
Ta'Niya Latson stood out with a career-high 11 rebounds, anchoring a strong defensive effort that limited South Alabama to just 22 percent shooting. FSU's early lead set the tone for the game, with a 20-9 advantage in the first quarter, and they maintained control throughout, entering halftime with a comfortable lead.
The team continued their dominance into the third quarter, further extending their lead with efficient scoring. FSU's rebounding prowess was on full display, out-rebounding South Alabama 60-42, and they excelled in the paint, outscoring their opponents 36-14.
This comprehensive win for the Seminoles highlights their potential as a powerhouse in women's college basketball, combining offensive efficiency, defensive strength, and excellent teamwork.
