The No. 6 Florida State soccer team will take on No. 3 Wake Forest on Thursday evening in the semifinal round of the 2024 Ally ACC Women's Soccer Championship at WakeMed Soccer Park. FSU is eyeing its fifth straight ACC Championship game and hopes to continue its dominant tournament streak, having claimed nine of the past 11 titles.
🔥 Redemption and Record-Setting Goals
Thursday’s matchup marks the second meeting between these teams this season, with Wake Forest previously ending FSU’s program-record 32-game unbeaten streak. Since then, the Seminoles have scored over three goals per game across a six-game winning stretch, with standout Taylor Huff leading the way. Huff, who has 10 goals and nine assists, is among the conference leaders in points, goals, and assists, reaching the 20+ point mark faster than any Seminole in recent seasons.
💪 Defensive Resolve
FSU’s defense remains strong despite losing key players to the pros, with nine shutouts this season. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Addie Todd has nearly matched last year’s ACC save record and the backline has even chipped in offensively with 12 goals. Freshman Wrianna Hudson has been a standout, leading her class with seven goals and five assists.
🚀 What’s Next
A win against Wake Forest will send FSU to the ACC Championship game, where they’ll face either No. 1 Duke or No. 8 North Carolina on Sunday. Let’s go, Noles!

Florida State soccer celebrated six players receiving All-ACC honors, as announced on Wednesday, marking a strong showing for the team in the conference's end-of-season awards. This year, FSU placed four athletes on the All-ACC First, Second, and Third Teams, while two freshmen earned spots on the ACC All-Freshman Team for the second consecutive season.
🏅 Top Honors for Huff and Dudley
Taylor Huff and Jordynn Dudley were named to the All-ACC First Team. Huff, leading the team with 10 goals and nine assists, earned her first All-ACC First Team spot after earning conference honors in each of her collegiate seasons, previously in the SEC with Tennessee. Dudley, last year’s ACC Freshman of the Year, has been a dominant force again this season with five goals and five assists in ACC play.
💪 Defensive Standouts on Third Team
Heather Gilchrist and Mimi Van Zanten secured spots on the All-ACC Third Team. Gilchrist, an anchor in FSU's defense, recorded five shutouts this season and scored her first career goal. Van Zanten, with four goals and three game-winners, has started nearly every match and boasts eight shutouts.
🌟 Impressive Freshmen Talent
Freshmen Wrianna Hudson and Solai Washington joined the ACC All-Freshman Team, contributing to a freshman class with a combined 62 points. Hudson has seven goals and five assists, while Washington’s five goals include a brace against No. 8 UNC.
FSU’s consistency shines as this is the seventh consecutive season the Seminoles have placed four or more players across the three All-ACC teams.

🌟 Matchup History
FSU holds a 2-0 record against Illinois, including a 67-58 victory on the road in 2021. Illinois, which received votes in the opening AP and Coaches polls, will be looking to start its season strong against the visiting Seminoles.
🔥 Coach Wyckoff’s Challenge
FSU head coach Brooke Wyckoff shared her excitement for this early season test: “This is an early opportunity for us to be challenged… Illinois is a great and experienced team. We’re going to see a different look, and I know we’ll be ready for it.”
💪 Last Game Highlights
FSU opened the season with a record-breaking 119-49 win over North Florida. Makalya Timpson led the team with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 22 rebounds. Junior guard Ta’Niya Latson added 27 points, moving up to 14th on FSU’s all-time scoring list. As a team, the Seminoles tied a program record with 15 three-pointers and forced 26 turnovers.
The Seminoles look to build on their strong start as they aim to go 2-0 against Illinois.
🎾 FSU Men’s Tennis Hosts ITA South Sectional Championships 🎾
The Florida State men’s tennis team is set to host the 2024 ITA Men’s South Sectional Championships from November 7-10, marking FSU’s first ITA event at home since 2022. Six Seminoles will represent FSU in both the singles and doubles main draws as they vie for spots in the NCAA Championships.
🌟 Singles Standouts
Youcef Rihane, a seeded player, leads the Seminoles in the singles main draw alongside teammates Erik Schiessl, Alex Bulte, and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif. Notably, Jamie Connel and Corey Craig have already qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship, so they’ll skip the singles competition.
🎾 Top Seeded Doubles Duo
FSU will have all six players competing in the doubles championship, with Connel and Craig earning the highest seed in their debut as a doubles pairing.
🏆 Path to Nationals
Semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners in singles will earn spots in the NCAA Singles Championship, while the doubles finalists and third-place team will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
🔴 FSU Extends Offer to 6'7" JUCO Wide Receiver Jordan Scott 🔴

Florida State has offered a scholarship to an intriguing junior college talent in the 2025 recruiting class: Jordan Scott, a towering 6-foot-7 wide receiver from Southwest Mississippi Community College, is on FSU’s radar as a potential game-changer with a unique skill set.
🌟 High Praise and Johnny Wilson Comparison
Head coach Mike Norvell extended the offer to Scott personally over FaceTime, sharing how Scott reminded him of former Seminole standout Johnny Wilson. “It meant a lot... Most head coaches don’t call you directly,” Scott noted. Drawing comparisons to Wilson, who shares Scott’s 6'7" frame, Scott has studied Wilson’s highlights extensively, modeling his own game on the former FSU receiver.
🔄 Recruiting Journey
Scott’s JUCO route was a decision driven by challenges in high school during the pandemic. “I just took it and bet on myself,” he reflected. His efforts have paid off: Scott logged 20 receptions for 458 yards and four touchdowns this season.
🚀 Looking Ahead
Scott is set to visit Tallahassee on November 23 when FSU takes on Charleston Southern. With an expected January enrollment, Scott’s decision may come soon after his FSU visit, putting the Seminoles in a strong position as he considers returning to the East Coast, closer to his home state of Virginia.
🔴 FSU Ramps Up Pursuit of Ole Miss Edge Commit Tylon Lee 🔴
As Florida State seeks to bolster its 2025 defensive line class, the Seminoles have set their sights on a familiar face: three-star edge rusher Tylon Lee, currently committed to Ole Miss. With only one defensive lineman, Kevin Wynn, currently pledged to FSU—and Wynn exploring other programs—the ‘Noles are making a strong push for additional talent up front.
🌟 Longstanding Relationship
Lee, from Pace High School in Milton, Florida, has visited FSU five times, most recently for a Junior Day event in February. Originally offered by the Seminoles in June 2023, Lee’s recruitment with FSU cooled off for a while. However, following the loss of their previous defensive end commit, Javion Hilson, FSU has rekindled its interest in Lee, who recently flipped from UCF to Ole Miss.
🔄 Key Visit Upcoming
Lee has scheduled an official visit to Tallahassee for FSU’s high-stakes game against Florida on November 30, the final weekend before the Early Signing Period opens on December 4. This visit signals FSU’s intensified interest in securing Lee as a key part of its defensive front.
💥 Impressive Senior Stats
In 10 games this season, Lee has amassed 65 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks, showcasing his disruptive potential on the edge. Ranked as the No. 41 edge rusher nationally by 247Sports, Lee’s skill set could add depth and versatility to FSU’s defensive lineup.

The Seminoles kept up their preparation for Saturday's road game at Notre Dame, with the defense once again showing dominance in a rainy Tallahassee practice.
🌧️ Defense Dominates
Much like Tuesday, FSU’s defense came out on top. Defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. disrupted a quick throw with a well-timed deflection, and safety Shyheim Brown blocked a field goal attempt during early tempo drills. In full-team action, the defensive line smothered quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, while nickel Kevin Knowles II showcased tight coverage on wide receiver Ja’Khi Douglas, breaking up a potential completion.
✨ 1-on-1 Standouts
Wide receiver Kentron Poitier opened 1-on-1 drills with a smooth catch from Glenn, while cornerback Azareye’h Thomas locked down his opponent for a no-throw scenario. Freshmen shined, with tight end Amaree Williams and running back Micahi Danzy making impressive contested catches, and wide receiver Lawayne McCoy winning his deep-route battles.
🎯 Freshmen in Focus
Rookies impressed in situational drills and pass skeleton, with Kromenhoek connecting with BJ Gibson on a crisp dig route. Head coach Mike Norvell reminded seasoned players of their waning college careers, urging attention to detail to avoid lingering rookie mistakes.
🛠️ Offensive Line Adjustments
FSU’s offensive line, impacted by ongoing injuries, has required a “mix-and-match” approach. Harvard transfer Jacob Rizy, who’s capitalized on his recent opportunities, drew commendation from Norvell for his strong performances.
🤝 Notable Observations
NFL scouts attended from teams like the Seahawks, Patriots, and Titans, observing FSU's prospects as they gear up for the Notre Dame showdown.
