FSU Hits Home Run with Randy Burdette Hire

Randy Burdette steps up to the plate as FSU baseball's Director of Program Development, bringing a 25-year major-league pedigree from Nike and Fanatics. Coach Link Jarrett hails him as a game-changer for the Seminoles.

Burdette, an FSU alum with deep roots in sports management, is set to enhance the Seminole experience from alumni to game day. FSU Hall of Famer Eduardo Perez vouches for Burdette's winning mindset, predicting a grand slam impact on the program.

With a legacy of success and a vision for the future, Burdette's ready to score big for FSU baseball.

FSU Women's Golf: The Next Wave of Tee-Time Talent

I know, I know. You've probably never tuned in to watch a women's golf tournament at FSU—maybe you didn't even know we had such a powerhouse team.

But before you scroll on by to the football and basketball hype, pause for a moment. We're about to introduce you to 4 of the future stars that we were signed today to keep FSU's legacy on the lush greens stronger than ever.

Or, if you must, go ahead and scroll, but you'll be missing out on the lowdown of these fairway phenoms.

The Fresh Faces of FSU's Fairways

Sophia Fullbrook: England's Fairway Prodigy Hailing from the rolling courses of Hertfordshire, England, Fullbrook brings an impressive resume that's bound to make waves across the pond. With a swing as precise as Big Ben's clockwork and a competitive spirit as fiery as a British cuppa, she's ready to add a dash of international prestige to the Seminole greens.

Alexandra Gazzoli: Florida's Own Ace A local legend in the making, Gazzoli's journey from the sun-kissed courses of Palm Coast to the Seminole tribe is a tale of dedication and homegrown talent. Her record speaks volumes, and her drive? Well, it's as powerful as the Florida hurricanes.

Freya Russell: Scotland's Silent Assassin Russell might come from the land of lochs and legends, but her golf game is no myth. With a swing as mighty as a Highland warrior's sword, she's set to bring a storm of Scottish strength to the Seminole squad.

Christiana Surcey: Georgia's Golfing Gem Georgia may be known for its peaches, but Surcey is all about the greens. With a knack for staying cool under tournament pressure, she's ready to show that Georgia's got more to offer than just sweet fruit.

So, there you have it. The next time you're boasting about FSU's athletic prowess, don't forget to tip your hat to the women's golf team.

These four recruits are on the verge of upping the ante for the Seminoles, and they're just as worthy of your cheers as any touchdown or slam dunk.

Stick around, and you might just become a women's golf aficionado by the time they tee off in 2024.

Maryland Standout AJ Swinton Commits to Florida State Basketball

AJ Swinton, the 6-6 guard from Cabin John, Maryland, has inked his National Letter of Intent to join the Florida State Seminoles, marking a significant addition to Coach Leonard Hamilton's 2024 class.

Swinton, known for his defensive tenacity and offensive versatility, brings a unique skill set that aligns seamlessly with FSU's dynamic style of play.

His ability to score, coupled with his eagerness to excel defensively, allows him to guard and play all positions on the floor, making him a valuable asset to the Seminoles' future plans.

Swinton's commitment to FSU, over other high-major offers from Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Villanova, Maryland, Xavier, and Howard, underscores the program's allure under Coach Hamilton's leadership.

His decision reflects the program's competitive edge and Swinton’s personal trust in Hamilton's vision for his development.

As Swinton prepares to don the garnet and gold, FSU fans can look forward to the arrival of a player who embodies the team's ethos of hard work and selflessness, poised to leave his mark on the court.

Seminoles on the Prowl: FSU Eyes Major Flips During Rivalry Weekend

Florida State's football program, under the guidance of Mike Norvell, is on a steadfast march toward the College Football Playoff, and the upcoming clash with Miami is set to be a showcase event for potential recruits.

The visitor's list is star-studded, featuring four high-profile recruits currently committed elsewhere, including two five-star wide receivers, whose commitments FSU hopes to flip. Here are 4 major flip targets for FSU:

Jeremiah Smith, a Five-Star Plus+ WR and Ohio State commit, has been on FSU's radar for some time. Despite his pledge to the Buckeyes, Smith has been exploring his options, with Florida State emerging as a consistent contender. Mike Norvell's personal involvement could be pivotal in swaying Smith, who is set to visit FSU officially next month.

Cam Coleman, another 5-star WR committed to Texas A&M, has been more reticent about his recruitment process. Although the buzz has quieted, FSU's on-field success and the efforts of Norvell and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans may reignite Coleman's interest in the Seminoles.

Wardell Mack, a 4-star CB currently with Florida, seems to be reconsidering his options amid the Gators' on-field struggles. With Texas now in the mix, FSU's consistent pursuit and the connections with the coaching staff, including defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain, could see Mack switch allegiances.

Lastly, Cai Bates, a 4-star CB committed to LSU, is no stranger to FSU, having visited multiple times. The Orlando native is keeping his recruitment open, and this weekend's visit could be FSU's chance to impress and potentially secure a flip.

As the Seminoles prepare for a pivotal game, the stakes are high not only for this season but also for the future rosters. The battle on the field against Miami is crucial, but the war for the hearts and minds of these young talents could define FSU's trajectory for years to come.

Are you ready for some football?

Last week, the Miami Hurricanes suffered a disappointing defeat despite not having clock mismanagement issues.

They out-gained North Carolina State but failed to reach the 300-yard mark, converted only 4 of 15 third downs, and committed 4 turnovers.

Miami had the ball for more than 35 minutes of game time but could only score 2 field goals. In their last five games, Miami has won only two games and failed to cover the spread in all but one.

On the other hand, Florida State has been performing well, boasting a perfect 9-0 SU record and winning their last five games by an average of 24 points.

Last year, Florida State outscored Miami 45-3 and out-gained them 454-188. Although Miami may be more resistant defensively this time around, Florida State is still expected to win and cover in this matchup.

Since Week 5, both teams are top 35 in pass play rate, so expect a lot of quarterback dropbacks collectively.

Florida State has an advantage with Heisman-hopeful Jordan Travis, who is top 35 in PPA per pass and pass success rate since the end of September. Miami is outside the top 65 in each respective statistic.

Furthermore, Florida State's defense is going to make it extremely difficult for Tyler Van Dyke (or any other QB) to find success, as the Seminoles are the top team nationally in pass success rate allowed since Week 5.

They are also top 5 in PPA per pass allowed and top 20 in pass explosiveness allowed, which may turn Miami's offense one-dimensional towards the run, where it ranks 90th in PPA since the end of September.

Florida State is expected to separate early from the Hurricanes, and for the Seminoles to win by margin. The line is -14 at the time of publishing and playable to -16.

In other news, the Seminoles are hoping to get multiple wide receivers back in the lineup, including Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman.

Miami's QB Tyler Van Dyke's regression, whether injury-based, psychologically-based, or otherwise, has killed anything Miami wants to do offensively. Van Dyke's psyche is so broken he's scared to throw the ball now, and even then, still finds ways to throw it to the other team.

And that's a wrap on today's Chief Brief. I will leave you with this highlight of Jalen Ramsay’s elegant forced fumble against Miami in 2014

We've celebrated triumphs, welcomed future legends, and stood united in garnet and gold. As we close this chapter, let's keep the Seminole spirit roaring loud and proud.

Here's to the victories we've claimed and to those on the horizon. Until next time, Seminole Nation, keep the cheers high and the spirit undaunted.
