🏛️ Norvell Responds to McCullough’s Message
Mike Norvell says he and Richard McCullough remain in contact, and he understands that results are being evaluated. Asked Wednesday about the president’s letter, Norvell emphasized improving the team and delivering wins. Norvell’s response →
The message: Norvell said he spoke at length with McCullough last week. He expressed appreciation for the president’s leadership without outlining specific criteria for his own evaluation.
The next step: McCullough’s letter said the next AD’s role is nearing definition and a search will begin soon. It did not announce a coaching decision.
The national view: CBS sees a path to Norvell returning if FSU finishes 4–1. No decision has been announced. National report →
Why It Matters: The public conversation has moved to accountability. Saturday begins the five-game stretch in which Norvell can change the results behind it. 🍢🍢
🗞️ Schoffel Wants the Letter to Signal an Overhaul
Ira Schoffel reads McCullough’s statement as a possible opening for larger change. His column explains what he hopes is happening behind the scenes, rather than reporting a confirmed coaching search or restructuring plan. Schoffel’s column →
Football: He argues that even a strong finish may not restore trust in Norvell, and hopes FSU is preparing for a potential coaching change.
The finances: He contends that declining ticket sales and donor support could make further delay costly, even with the expense of a buyout.
The structure: He hopes the AD search follows a genuine reorganization, with closer alignment between athletics and Seminole Boosters and less duplication.
Why It Matters: The column frames the question beyond the next hire: whether FSU changes how the department operates. Those are Schoffel’s arguments and hopes, not announced decisions. 🍢🍢
🩹 Jones Out, Linebackers Probable on Initial Report
Quindarrius Jones and Blake Nichelson are among nine Seminoles ruled out on Wednesday’s initial report. Omar Graham Jr. and Jordan Crutchfield are probable. Updates are due Thursday, Friday and two hours before kickoff. Noles247’s full report →
Out: Jones, Samuel Singleton Jr., Karson Hobbs, Jamari Howard, Nichelson, Izayia Williams, Ousmane Kromah, Daylen Green and Noah LaVallee.
Probable: Malachi Marshall, Graham, Chris Jones, Crutchfield, Mikai Gbayor and Caleb LaVallee. Kirkland is questionable.
Cornerback depth: Nehemiah Chandler is not listed after leaving the Miami game injured. Charles Lester played 33 snaps that night. Warchant’s cornerback update →
Clemson: Seven players are out, including corners Corian Gipson and Shavar Young Jr. Receiver Gordon Sellars III is questionable. Both teams’ lists →
Why It Matters: FSU has more encouraging news at linebacker, but Jones’ absence leaves an already stretched secondary facing Clemson’s talented receivers. 🍢🍢
⚡ Devin Carter Is Expected to Be Available
Devin Carter could make his FSU debut Saturday after missing the first seven games. Norvell expects the freshman receiver to be available, while leaving his workload open. This is Carter’s first week back practicing with the offense. The Carter update →
Duce Robinson says Carter is making plays again. The former four-star would add another option alongside Robinson, Jayvan Boggs and Micahi Danzy. Availability does not yet tell us how large his role will be.
Watch Wednesday’s press conferences through Warchant TV → or Noles247 →.
Why It Matters: A healthy Carter gives Daniels another target as FSU prepares to attack an aggressive Clemson defense. 🍢🍢
🧩 Clemson’s Defense Presents the Bigger Test
Clemson ranks sixth nationally in blitz rate and seventh in man-coverage rate, according to Noles247’s matchup report. Norvell praised corner Ashton Hampton, while Duce Robinson welcomed the challenge of one-on-one coverage. The Clemson breakdown →
The other side: Clemson’s offense ranks 100th in F+ and 137th in EPA per dropback. Norvell still warned about its receivers and freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds’ ability.
The backfield: With Kromah and Singleton out, Norvell expressed confidence in Tre Wisner, Amari Thomas and Zay Parks.
Wednesday’s work: Norvell said the intensity grew through the week. Robinson stressed receivers taking advantage of their opportunities rather than leaving outcomes to the officials. The practice and interview recap →
Why It Matters: Clemson’s offensive struggles offer FSU an opening. Taking advantage still requires protection against pressure and plays from the healthy offensive personnel. 🍢🍢

Before kickoff: Parking opens at noon. Fan Fest, Tailgate Village and Trunk or Treat begin at 3 p.m.; the Legacy Walk is at 4:45, and stadium gates open at 5.
Inside Doak: Plans include the Para-Commandos jump, military recognitions, Peter Warrick’s NFF salute, drone and light shows, and enhanced fourth-quarter pyrotechnics.
The game: Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. on ACC Network. Tomahawk Nation’s Wednesday guide lists FSU favored by 6.5 with a 50.5 total. Watch, stream and radio details →

Younger targets: Luke Rubley, Dalen Powell, Shamar Evans, Christopher Sanon and Bubba Brown join Ole Miss pledge Giovanni Tuggle, Florida pledge Cyion Smith and 2029 lineman Jordan Lewis.
November dates: The NC State list includes Aidyn Wiggins and Antrale Newson. Brady Quinn and Chandler Dyson are among the quarterbacks listed for Florida on November 27.
Why It Matters: Saturday combines retention with a chance to land FSU’s first 2027 offensive lineman. Visitor plans can still change before kickoff. 🍢🍢
🔒 Za’Kari Johnson Returns With No Other Visits Planned
Four-star safety commit Za’Kari Johnson has no visits elsewhere planned entering his FSU official this weekend. The Carol City standout visited Texas A&M, Miami and Auburn in September, but now appears closer to ending the process. The Johnson visit preview →
The relationships: Johnson has repeatedly credited Norvell and Evan Cooper. He has also made clear that his commitment is tied to the staff.
The prospect: The 6-foot-1, 196-pounder moved from 2028 to 2027 in June. Andrew Ivins sees his best college projection in the secondary, with potential at nickel or safety.
Why It Matters: A productive official could help secure a key defensive pledge. No other scheduled visits is encouraging, though Johnson has not announced that his recruitment is finished. 🍢🍢
👀 UNC and LSU Keep FSU Pledges in Focus
Anna Adams reports that FSU’s 2028 athlete commit Chayse Brown had planned a UNC visit and communicated an intention to flip while there. He did not make the trip, and no commitment change occurred. The UNC recruiting insider →
Other UNC notes: Linebacker pledge Theo Wilson says he is firm with the Tar Heels. Quarterback Levi Kerr could decide soon, with UNC, Michigan and Mississippi State his stated top three.
LSU’s pursuit: Zack Nagy’s wishlist highlights FSU running back pledge Jayden Miles and Wake Forest linebacker pledge Keland Shelton Jr., both scheduled to visit November 14 for Texas. LSU is also working to protect David Segarra’s commitment from Florida and South Carolina. LSU’s November wishlist →
Why It Matters: FSU’s own recruiting weekend takes place amid competing visits and pitches elsewhere. Interest and scheduled trips still need to be distinguished from actual flips. 🍢🍢
🧱 FSU Pursues Dorian Williams as Newson’s Visit Nears
FSU and Miami are in contact with College of San Mateo tackle Dorian Williams, and both are pursuing visits. The 6-foot-8, 290-pound three-star has not scheduled either trip, according to Zach Blostein’s JUCO report. The JUCO recruiting report →
Antrale Newson: The No. 1 JUCO tackle in 247Sports’ rankings has USF November 12–14, FSU November 19–22 and Ole Miss November 27–29.
The wider market: Hayden Lowe has Tennessee, UCLA, Texas and Alabama on his November schedule. Iowa Western corner Coaleon Johnson plans a November 30 decision after a series of SEC visits.
Why It Matters: Williams adds another potential visitor to Hand’s tackle pursuit. Newson’s scheduled FSU official remains a central opportunity on the offensive line board. 🍢🍢

🌱 Wiggins Emerges as Farmer Weighs Development
2029 quarterback Jordan Wiggins accounted for four touchdowns in Northeast’s 40–0 rivalry win. Chad Simmons reports FSU, Alabama and Georgia showing interest in the No. 87 Rivals prospect, who has Georgia Southern and Samford offers. The Georgia quarterback evaluations →
Wiggins: He threw for 237 yards and three scores, adding 47 yards and a rushing touchdown. FSU’s visitor tracker also lists him at the October 3 Virginia game.
The other Georgia arms: Tennessee pledge Derrick Baker totaled 313 yards and five touchdowns in Milton’s 49–46 win. Clemson pledge Kharim Hughley had 174 yards and two passing scores before an ankle injury ended his night.
Nation Farmer: The 2028 IMG tackle earned a Polynesian Bowl invitation and has visited FSU, Georgia and Florida. UF improved its standing, Tennessee is an upcoming stop, and he targets early 2027, potentially February or March. Development and early competition matter most; he singled out Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon and Florida for their line development. Farmer’s recruiting update →
Why It Matters: Wiggins is an early relationship to track. Farmer’s priorities give FSU a clear recruiting task: demonstrate how its line develops players. 🍢🍢
📊 A San Juan Projection and a Distant ACC Chase
Brad Crawford’s latest projection pairs FSU with Georgia State in the December 16 San Juan Bowl. NoleGameday’s report stresses the qualification problem first: at 3–4, FSU needs three wins from Clemson, Boston College, Pitt, NC State and Florida. The bowl projection →
All three wins this season came at home. Sweeping the remaining Doak dates would reach six; losing one would require a road victory.
The conference snapshot: On3’s post-Week 8 Polymarket roundup lists FSU and Clemson at 2% each, behind Wake Forest at 15% and SMU at 6%, with Miami the heavy favorite. Those are the report’s market figures, not a forecast or a current quote. The ACC title roundup →
Why It Matters: A projected destination is conditional. The immediate task is winning enough games to make any bowl trip possible. 🍢🍢
🏀 Loucks’ Blunt Pitch to Abaev Gets Attention
Luke Loucks’ candid recruiting conversation with Shon Abaev has gone viral. The coach challenged his shot selection, defense, rebounding and uneven effort, while explaining how he could improve. Loucks later emphasized that the public clip captured only part of the conversation. The pitch and its context →
Abaev shot 33.5% overall and 25.7% from three at Cincinnati last season. His 26-point exhibition performance against LSU offered an early glimpse of the offensive upside FSU hopes to develop.
Why It Matters: The pitch shows the standard Loucks is setting. Abaev’s response over a full season will matter far more than the clip or one exhibition. 🍢🍢
📋 Four Players Who Could Shape Loucks’ Second Season
Chop Chat identifies Marcis Ponder, Alex Steen, Shon Abaev and Kam Taylor as central to FSU’s improvement. Their roles point toward a more varied offense than last season’s heavy reliance on threes. The four-player outlook →
Inside: Ponder offers a physical scoring and rebounding presence. Steen brings experience with the system and dependable veteran minutes.
On the perimeter: Abaev supplies scoring potential; Taylor brings size, downhill pressure and an ability to draw fouls after averaging 18.9 points at UNC Asheville.
Why It Matters: FSU needs several ways to create offense when jump shots stop falling. These four give Loucks different tools to work with. 🍢🍢

🎟️ The Tournament Drought Is Still the Benchmark
Jon Rothstein includes FSU among ten notable programs trying to end an NCAA Tournament drought. The Seminoles last appeared in 2021, after reaching the second weekend three times from 2017 through 2021. Loucks’ 18–15 debut was a step toward rebuilding that standard. Rothstein’s drought watch →
The ACC context: James Fletcher III’s preseason preview puts Duke, Virginia, Louisville, Miami and North Carolina atop its power rankings. On3’s bracketology projects eight ACC teams in the expanded 76-team field, with NC State and SMU among its last four in. These are preseason projections. The ACC season preview →
Why It Matters: Exhibition optimism now has a clear target: returning FSU to March Madness. The conference schedule will test whether the new roster can get there. 🍢🍢

The cause and the calendar: Special pink jerseys support TMH’s Walker Breast Program, with bidding open until November 17 at 5 p.m. FSU then visits Miami Sunday at 4 p.m. Noles247’s preview and coverage →
Why It Matters: A top-five opponent offers an immediate chance to respond to the Notre Dame loss, with a second ACC match following quickly on Sunday. 🍢🍢
💬 The Daniels and Clemson Conversations Continue
Two ongoing Tomahawk Nation threads capture the week’s debate. Community poster ricobert1 argues that Daniels has been a sound addition given the available options and supporting cast. The Daniels discussion →
Kyle Thele’s poll asks whether either side wins close or by double digits. The Clemson poll →
Why It Matters: These are fan perspectives rather than team reports, but they frame a familiar question: can FSU turn a competitive performance into a win? 🍢🍢
