With Florida Stateās run game averaging only 58 yards per gameāranked 132nd out of 133 teamsāhead coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Alex Atkins are focused on turning things around during the bye week.
Key Takeaways:
Norvellās Frustration: The Seminolesā ground attack is plagued by recurring issues across multiple levels, from blocking breakdowns on the perimeter to offensive line struggles. Norvell stated, āItās embarrassing what our run game has been,ā emphasizing the need for adjustments.
Multi-Level Problem: Norvell highlighted the challenges faced by his team, noting that even when the offensive line creates opportunities, breakdowns occur elsewhere, limiting the potential for big gains.
Atkinsā Approach: Atkins explained that the fix isnāt straightforward. Making adjustments on the offensive line is complex; finding players with balanced skills for both run blocking and pass protection is crucial. āItās about finding that common ground,ā Atkins noted. āWeāve got to do something well and stick to that something.ā
Using the bye week to review every play and assess player performance, the coaching staff is committed to finding solutions to boost FSUās struggling run game as they head into the seasonās second half.
