True freshman linebacker Izayia Williams, a top-140 overall recruit in FSU's 2026 class, is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. Williams played seven defensive snaps in the Week 0 win over New Mexico State before being limited to six special teams snaps in the SMU loss.

Norvell had spoken highly of Williams' early development, calling him "a sponge" who was constantly picking the brains of veteran teammates, and had expected his role to grow as the season went on. An injury also limited some of his fall camp reps before the season even began.

NC State grabbed a 1-0 lead just 97 seconds into the game, but Wrianna Hudson tied it in the 23rd minute off a Shaneil Buckley feed, heading in a centering ball for her second straight game with a goal. Alex Steen, a member of FSU's 2022 signing class seeking a fifth year of eligibility through the courts, had his request for a temporary and preliminary injunction denied by Circuit Judge David Frank on Friday. Frank wrote that Steen was unlikely to prevail on the merits of his underlying claims and found he'd failed to show the kind of real, non-speculative harm required to win an emergency order.

The ruling isn't final. The case now moves toward a full evidentiary hearing, and the two sides have five days to submit a proposed schedule for that process.

Nebraska OL commit Timi Aliu, who attended FSU's Week 0 game, said he's "100 percent locked in" with the Huskers while also planning to visit Florida this weekend, adding the caveat that his certainty is about "right now." He praised FSU's gameday atmosphere specifically, saying "I love the energy they had at Florida State."

Aliu is eyeing a return trip to Nebraska for one of three games (Maryland, Indiana, or Washington) and said Georgia is the only other program he might visit this fall.

Top247 offensive tackle Omari Lawson, a longtime Syracuse commit, received a fresh offer from FSU on Friday, just over a week after reportedly scrapping planned visits to both FSU and Florida to shore up his Orange pledge. Lawson told Noles247 a Tallahassee visit is "back on the table," though no date is set yet.

Syracuse has held its ground on the strength of Lawson's relationship with head coach Fran Brown, but the fresh offer shows FSU is still actively working the offensive line board even during a rough on-field stretch.

One new detail worth watching in the Za'Kari Johnson situation: Miami's own 2027 secondary class is already five commitments deep, meaning the Hurricanes would need another player to step aside before Johnson could realistically join. It's a strange bit of leverage that could work in FSU's favor purely on roster math.

FSU's Oct. 3 opponent, No. 25 Virginia, is a 45.5-point favorite over Norfolk State Friday night, while Oct. 9 opponent No. 24 Louisville is favored by 36.5 over Villanova. No. 12 Alabama, FSU's next opponent on Sept. 19, is a 10.5-point road favorite at Kentucky on Saturday.

Later-season opponents are in action too: Boston College is favored by just 3.5 over Rutgers, and NC State is a 32.5-point favorite over Richmond.
