FSU's do-everything running back picked up his first career conference weekly honor after Saturday's win, and the award itself comes with a notable piece of history.
🎖️ A Rare Honor
Singleton caught four passes for 54 yards and his first career receiving touchdown, added a rushing score, and averaged 34 yards per return on two kickoffs to earn the honor.
He's the first non-wide receiver to win ACC Receiver of the Week since the conference instituted the award in 2012, since any position that catches a pass is technically eligible.
Singleton also earned ACC Specialist of the Week honors last season for his performance against Duke, giving him weekly conference recognition in two different categories across his career.
Why It Matters: It's a fitting recognition for a player who bet on himself by staying in Tallahassee rather than transferring, and it's the clearest signal yet that FSU's coaching staff plans to keep finding him touches across all three phases. 🍢
Offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. and defensive coordinator Tony White met with the media Monday, and both had specific answers for what went wrong, and right, on Saturday.
📈 Harris on Daniels and the Offensive Line
Harris said Daniels' training camp growth was real and that Saturday's interception was the exception, not the rule, pointing to his clean progression on the game-sealing third-down completion to Jayvan Boggs as proof.
He called the offensive line's debut "a really solid job" given New Mexico State's stunts up front, and said FSU will "absolutely" expand its use of 21-personnel with Kromah and Singleton on the field together as the season progresses.
🔍 White on the Third-Down Breakdowns
White broke down both touchdown-allowing busts in detail: the first came when safeties K.J. Kirkland and Ashlynd Barker were still talking as the ball was snapped, leaving nobody over the top, and the second came when freshman linebacker Izayia Williams lined up three yards too far off the ball on a blitz call, missing what should have been a sack.
He said he "didn't sleep well" after watching the Aggies pick apart his defense live, but felt considerably better after reviewing the film Sunday, crediting the front seven for holding New Mexico State to 47 rushing yards and citing shuffled sub-package combinations as the root of the third-down communication issues.
Why It Matters: Both coordinators pointed to specific, identifiable and correctable mistakes rather than a talent problem, and how quickly those fixes show up against a far more disciplined SMU offense next Monday will say a lot about this staff's ability to coach up its mistakes in-season. 🍢

💰 SMU's Number Went Up
SMU opened Week 1 as just a 2.5-point favorite over FSU, but after Saturday's win, FanDuel moved the line all the way to SMU -3.5, crossing the key three-point number that handicappers watch most closely.
The total held steady at 53.5, suggesting the shift is about how the books now view FSU's team quality rather than a change in expected scoring.
📣 Hot Seat Talk Intensifies
FOX's Joel Klatt said he's "concerned for Florida State," projecting the Seminoles could realistically sit at 2-6 given the difficulty of the remaining schedule, and pointed to Norvell's roughly $51 million buyout as the number that will ultimately decide the timeline.
CBS Sports named the SMU game, the October 3 home date against Virginia, and the Clemson game as the three specific contests most likely to determine whether Norvell finishes the season in Tallahassee.
Why It Matters: A one-point line move and a fresh round of national hot-seat commentary are both a direct response to Saturday's performance, and Monday night now carries even more weight than it did a week ago. 🍢

🛡️ Trenches Report: One Bright Spot, One Problem 🛡️
FSU's line play on both sides of the ball drew plenty of scrutiny after the opener, but the story wasn't uniformly bad in either room.
The JUCO transfer edge rusher finished with a sack, two quarterback hits and three total pressures across 34 snaps, the clear high point of a defensive line that otherwise struggled to affect New Mexico State's quarterback.
White specifically credited Anderson's mix of speed and power moves after the game, a promising sign given he jumped straight from Pearl River Community College to ACC competition.
Senior Chimdia Nwaiwu allowed three pressures and a sack in his FSU debut, struggling to handle New Mexico State's stunts and showing little movement ability when asked to finish blocks.
With SMU's Ira Singleton IV, a transfer coming off 26 pressures last season, on deck, Norvell and Herb Hand have to decide this week whether to stick with Nwaiwu or turn to Paul Bowling, who has yet to take a single college snap.
Why It Matters: Anderson's emergence gives the defensive line at least one player performing above expectations, but Nwaiwu's struggles at right tackle are exactly the kind of specific, unresolved question FSU can't afford heading into a much tougher opponent. 🍢
🧭 Recruiting Notebook: Aliu's Return, Daughtry's Visit and More 🧭
FSU's recruiting momentum from the season opener carried into the new week, headlined by two of the program's top targets across two different sports.
Nebraska commit Timi Aliu said Saturday's visit "lived up to its reputation," and while he acknowledged some miscommunication up front, he said it's "nothing practice can't fix" and nobody around the program is worried.
More notably, Aliu confirmed he and FSU's staff have started discussing a return trip for an official visit later this season, a real shift for a prospect who has been committed to Nebraska since May.
Five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry, FSU's top 2027 basketball target, said Tallahassee "cannot be replicated" after his official visit, which included a Friday practice viewing and Saturday's football opener alongside his family.
Daughtry confirmed his seven-visit schedule remains unchanged, with Tennessee up next this weekend, and said FSU positioned itself well by making clear they want him to help "bring FSU back to where it used to be."

The No. 3 overall prospect in the Rivals 2029 rankings named FSU among his growing list of offers this week, giving Luke Loucks an early foothold with one of the country's top young prospects.
🌟 Building From Scratch
The 6-foot-6 wing, who models his game on Lamar Odom's passing and Tre Johnson's scoring, described his relationship with FSU as still forming, noting Loucks is "a great coach" and that he looks forward to learning more about the program.
McDaniel also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Indiana, with Alabama benefiting from his AAU team being based there.

FSU picked up preseason honors in golf, released a new tennis schedule, and started tracking its NFL alumni through the next stage of their pro careers.
Junior Sophia Fullbrook earned Second Team Preseason All-America honors and freshman Louise Landgraf picked up Honorable Mention and a spot on the Preseason All-Freshman Team, as FSU's women's golf team was ranked No. 8 nationally by Golf Channel.
The Seminoles return seven players from last season's NCAA Championship team and open their season September 7-9 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in Michigan.
Men's tennis released its fall schedule, headlined by hosting the ITA South Sectional Championships at the Speicher Tennis Center from November 5-8 for the first time since 2022.
With NFL rosters cut to 53 on Sunday, linebacker Cam Riley, center Jake Rizy and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei all landed on practice squads with the Dolphins, Patriots and Chargers respectively.
