  • DB Jerry Wilson snagged his 2nd INT of the season.

  • Omar Graham Jr. and Earl Little Jr. paced the defense with 3–4 tackles each.

📌 Why It Matters
FSU is 3–0 for the first time under Norvell, riding momentum into Friday’s ACC opener at Virginia (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).

📈 Three Takeaways from FSU’s 66–10 Romp 📈

Florida State’s win over Kent State wasn’t just another blowout — it was historic, with 498 rushing yards and 35 first-quarter points tying a school record. Beyond the pretzels on the sideline and Castellanos’ Soulja Boy celebration, here are three lessons from the rout:

🔥 The Run Game is Legit

  • FSU piled up 498 rushing yards — the most in program history.

  • Nine players had 20+ rushing yards, 11 had a run of 6+ yards, and nine had runs of 16+ yards.

  • The offensive line opened up massive holes: 4.15 yards before contact per carry, plus 5.34 yards after contact thanks to backs and receivers finishing plays.

⚡ The Rise of Micahi Danzy

  • Tallahassee native posted 176 yards on just three touches, including a 64-yard TD run.

  • Has scored in all three games this year.

  • Combining elite speed with improved strength and balance, Danzy is becoming one of the nation’s most explosive young weapons.

🛡️ Defense Still Has Work to Do

  • Allowed just 206 yards and forced Kent State into -0.5 yards before contact per rush.

  • Success Rate vs. the run (78.6%) and Points-Per-Drive (0.83) were elite numbers.

  • Still, the unit lacked urgency compared to the Alabama opener. Veterans James Williams and Jerry Wilson admitted the focus needs to sharpen as ACC play begins.

📌 Why It Matters
This game confirmed FSU’s rushing attack is championship-caliber — but the defense can’t afford to flip the switch on and off if the Noles want to make a playoff run.

🤕 Castellanos Injury Scare 🤕

FSU’s 66–10 win over Kent State included a brief scare when QB Tommy Castellanos exited in the first half with an ankle issue.

🔥 What Happened

  • Rolled up on from behind, Castellanos limped off and didn’t return.

  • Finished 10-of-13 passing for 205 yards, plus 54 rushing yards and 2 TDs before leaving.

  • After the game: “All good. 100 percent.”

🗣️ Norvell’s Take

  • Called the injury “manageable.”

  • Staff will monitor Castellanos on the short week ahead of Friday night’s trip to Virginia.

📌 Why It Matters
Castellanos is the engine of FSU’s new-look offense — his health will be the headline going into the ACC opener.

And that’s a wrap!

That’s all for today’s Chief Brief — a weekend filled with history, highlights, and a hint of drama. Castellanos looks fine, the run game looks unstoppable, and the Noles are carrying momentum into a short week that sets the stage for ACC play.

Thanks for reading, and as always — stay locked in. Big things are coming.

Go Noles,
—Chief
