Tomahawk Nation dug up a great one: UCA coach Nathan Brown threw two touchdown passes to Mike Norvell in 2005 and the first was Brown's first career TD as a Bear. Brown went on to become UCA's all-time leading passer with 10,558 yards and 100 touchdowns.

Since moving up to FCS in 2006, Central Arkansas is 3-18 against FBS teams.

TN member BobLoblaw113 compared two offenses. Team A: 519.1 yards and 7.8 yards per play. Team B: 530.7 yards and 7.9 yards per play. Team A is the 2013 national title offense with Jameis Winston. Team B is the average of FSU's last three Power Four opponents against this defense.

That's why Norvell's ask this week is so simple: “I want to see alignment, communication, and discipline in how we play. … If it's one call, let's execute every single time we run one call.”

Every single pick has FSU winning. Tomahawk Nation's range runs from 41-20 (NoleThruandThru, who says he's only picking “so I don't get fined”) to 67-9 from Jacob Smith, who went for “the funny number” because “it's entirely plausible that it'll happen.” NoleGameday landed between 42-20 and 52-9.

Two writers worked in a reference to Norvell's playing-days hairstyle. Frank DaNole's final: “FSU Seminoles 59, Arkansas Cornrows 17.” Tim Scribble added: “No word on if FSU will sport cornrow helmets in honor of Norvell.”

Curt Weiler called it “another empty-calorie win which won't convince or satisfy anyone.” Jordan Silversmith: “If Daniels plays the full 60 minutes, something will have gone very wrong.” Matt Minnick went darker: “There's a non-zero chance this is the final win for Mike Norvell at FSU.”

For the long view, ESPN's Kyle Bonagura projects FSU to the Frisco Bowl on Dec. 23 against, of all teams, Memphis, where Norvell went 38-15 before coming to Tallahassee.

FSU's average throw traveled 14.1 air yards at Alabama, up from 10.3 against SMU. On throws of 20-plus yards, Daniels went from 0-for-4 against the Mustangs to 4-of-7 for 151 yards in Tuscaloosa.

Between the numbers, Daniels is 18-of-25 for 315 yards in two Power Four games, a 110.8 rating. To his left past the line of scrimmage, he's 1-for-6 for 6 yards and a pick.

After the right-side line shuffle, FSU ran 25 times to the left and just six to the right against Alabama, a 4-to-1 split. FSU has also become an inside zone team: 30 inside zone calls against Power Four teams, two shy of the national lead, and only three counters all year. Pass protection is still an issue, with FSU allowing pressure on 44.4 percent of dropbacks at Alabama, fifth-worst in Power Four games.

One defensive bright spot: FSU's pressure rate nearly doubled from SMU to Alabama (20.5 to 39.4 percent). ChopChat notes UCA has seven sacks this year, more than half its 2025 total, so protection still matters today.

The Osceola wants to see the freshman D-line trio of Franklin Whitley (6-6, 282), Whitley Cadeau (6-5, 284) and Earnest Rankins (6-4, 274). At linebacker, Tony White has high praise for Karon Maycock: “He made two plays that you're just like, ‘That's why you're here.’” Freshman DB Tre Bell, the Miami Herald's 7A-4A Defensive Player of the Year, is another one to watch.

ChopChat flags Rylan Kennedy, whose snaps dropped from 41 against SMU to 22 at Alabama.

With Singleton out, all eyes are on Tre Wisner, the $650,000 Texas transfer whose carries fell from 226 in 2024 to 131 last year. ChopChat also wants senior TE Desirrio Riles (10.3 yards per catch for his career) involved, and NoleGameday highlights freshman TE Xavier Tiller. Marshall was the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year with 2,750 yards and 33 TDs, and Lopez caught for 5,211 yards and 59 TDs in high school, so there's real talent waiting.

The Decatur (Ga.) edge rusher went viral this summer: a 4.3 GPA, a 1490 SAT, a background in wrestling, swimming and lacrosse, and only his second year of organized football. Oklahoma State, Baylor, Memphis, Navy and others have offered since, and today is his first look at FSU.

Also in: 2027 commits Anthony Cavallaro and Olrick Johnson III, IMG DL Chase Foster II, and Alabama edge DeMarcus Dale-Brown, who says he's “most excited to see the team in person and watch them dominate.” California QB Chase Curren says QB coach Austin Tucker calls him regularly and Norvell texts him. 2029 edge Jamarion Dunwood got his FSU offer this week and booked the trip right away.

247's Zach Blostein calls Florida-Ole Miss the most loaded recruiting weekend in the country, and several FSU targets will be there: Top247 DL Zylen Little (on FSU's list for next week), WR Tromon Isaac Jr., OT Nation Farmer, and Tallahassee's own Bubba Brown from Florida High.

Before the June 3 Senate hearing, the ACC drafted a letter of support to Sens. Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell and gathered signatures from all 18 member presidents, including FSU's Richard McCullough. Internal ACC documents label two provisions as “ACC-Requested” changes, and conference officials sent proposed language directly to Senate staff.

The ACC's own notes on the conference-movement section: “The anti-merger and acquisition provisions were expanded to include the ACC and revised to allow some G6 movement, but little A4 movement.” Sen. Ashley Moody's proposed 180-day exemption from the waiting period was left out of the Sept. 17 version.

The best detail: while planning a lobbying trip, a Clemson government-relations staffer noted that Sen. Tim Scott's stepdaughter was about to enroll at Clemson and that Scott was already drinking from a “Clemson Dad” mug. “If Commissioner Phillips gets in front of him, it may be worth mentioning.” Scott has voted yes on all five procedural votes. The ACC didn't respond to Tomahawk Nation's follow-up questions.

ChopChat's projected men's starting five: Tallahassee native Anthony Robinson II (back from Missouri), 6-foot-7 UNC Asheville transfer Kam Taylor, Shon Abaev, Sebastian Rancik and freshman center Marcis Ponder. On the recruiting trail, 247's Eric Bossi says Florida's pitch is resonating with five-star PG Cayden Daughtry, though no decision is expected before his mid-October Miami visit, and Jarvis Hayes Jr. is at Georgia this weekend, where “the family tradition is awfully tough to ignore.”

After a 10-21 season, Brooke Wyckoff's women's team added six transfers and five freshmen. “None of us want to repeat what happened last year,” forward Avery Treadwell said. The exhibition opener is Oct. 18 against Tampa.

Link Jarrett has five 2028 commits, all from Florida, and four are left-handed pitchers, led by Cocoa Beach two-way star Garrett Harper, Perfect Game's No. 1 lefty in the state. The first commit was a switch-hitting shortstop from Plant City named, yes, Alex Rodriguez. FSU already ranks 15th in Perfect Game's class rankings.

The women took third at the Gans Creek Classic, the program's best finish ever on that course, against a field with nine ranked teams. Bieke Schipperen led in 14th (19:54.5), beating her own personal best from the same course last year, while Rylee Blade was 21st. On the men's side, all five scorers set lifetime bests, led by Kaden Levings in 16th, for a seventh-place finish.

Women's golf debuted at No. 16 in the first WGCA poll after going 25-6 against the field this fall, including a season-opening win (the program's first since 2016) and a stroke-play win over defending champ Stanford.

No. 22 soccer (4-1-2) returns Sunday at noon on ACC Network at Louisville (8-1-1), which just upset No. 6 Stanford. Sam Erbach leads FSU with 10 points.
