One of the nation’s premier prospects, five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson (Catawba Ridge, SC), will visit Tallahassee for Florida State’s October 4 rivalry clash with Miami.
🔥 Prospect Snapshot
No. 2 cornerback & No. 5 overall player in the 2027 class (247Sports Composite).
6’1”, 175 lbs with elite speed: 10.85 (100m), 22.78 (200m), 48.86 (400m).
2024 season: 48 tackles, 10 PBUs, 3 INTs, 2 kickoff return TDs.
🌟 FSU Connection
FSU was among his first Power 4 offers after he camped in Tallahassee in July 2024.
Returned this summer to spend time with Mike Norvell and CBs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. (lead recruiter).
👀 Competition
Strong pull from hometown schools South Carolina & Clemson.
Florida, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame also firmly in the mix (visited OU last weekend for Sooners’ win over Michigan).
📊 Big Picture
FSU’s 2027 class is already ranked No. 4 nationally, with 3 of 4 current commits being defensive backs. Dobson would be a cornerstone addition to that elite foundation.

Florida State added intrigue to its 2027 recruiting board this weekend, extending an offer to 4⭐ ATH DeMarcus DeRoche (Fort Lauderdale, Cardinal Gibbons) — a recent Miami commit with family ties to FSU.
🔥 Prospect Profile
6’4”, 205 lbs — plays both WR and DE in high school.
2024 stats: 11 tackles (5 TFL), 5 sacks, 2 FR, 1 FF + 10 catches for 165 yards.
Ranked No. 240 overall / No. 25 edge rusher in the 2027 class (247Sports).
🌟 FSU Visit Takeaways
DeRoche’s uncle graduated from FSU (2019, 2024), sparking his interest in visiting.
Enjoyed conversations with staff: “Everybody seemed really cool.”
Tight ends coach Chris Thomsen extended the offer, pitching him in a hybrid role like Amaree Williams.
Plan: learn offense first, then potentially move to defense.
👀 Where He Stands
Currently committed to Miami, citing “culture, staff, and the love from Miami nation” as reasons.
Plans to return for another FSU visit with his uncle.
And that’s a wrap!
That’s all for today, Chief. Between golf season teeing off, Duce and Medley hauling in ACC honors, and recruiting intrigue heating up on both the home front and down in Miami, the Seminoles are rolling into the bye with momentum on every front.
Enjoy the quiet weekend ahead — because once Kent State comes to town, Family Weekend at Doak is going to be loud, sold out, and packed with energy.
Unconquered. Always. 🔱
